If thinking was the issue, then Ghanaians are not doing well. In fact, thinking a lot must make Ghanaians realise indiscipline on the roads will lead to this senseless lost of lives.

No driver gets punished after carelessly killing innocent souls. In the advanced countries, one is charged with manslaughter and spends months to years in jail. Driving privileges are revoked which can sometimes lead to life without driving. What do we see in Ghana. The driver spends a day at the counter back and buys coffin to bury the dead. That's it. So you see where one will be careful when driving and where one will drive carelessly knowing nothing will happen to him. You see how useless your so called honorable parliamentarians are. No law to check drivers. They will all read this sad news and go to bed thinking of how to loot the nation's coffers. Ghana is a failed state.

The NDC Government has , since November,2014 refused to meet Groupe Nduome representatives to discuss Groupe Nduom's idea of introducing Railway train services from Accra through the Central Region to other parts of the Western Region all because the PPP shall win Central and Western Region seats by a whooping landslide and so the NDC Government has stalled the groupe Nduom meeting with them since November,2014??
Just see thousands of lives that have perished on the narrow roads of Ghana.

A young and developing country like ours seriously can't sustain this heavy drain of human lives. The key causes of road accidents, of course, are long known to our leaders and policymakers. Among them are:
1) VERY BAD DRIVER ATTITUDES (indiscipline) on the roads. They pay no attention to anything on the road and think they know everything;
2) SPEEDING & OVERTAKING are common place on Ghana's roads and they contribute to much of the road accidents;
3) DRUNK DRIVING is part and parcel of some of these knuckle-head rivers and the drinking impairs their judgment and quick thinking on the roads;
4) BADLY MAINTAINED VEHICLES are everywhere on Ghana's roads. Bald tires (tyres), faulty brakes, bad operating equipment sensors, etc., are common features of many vehicles;
5) YES, THE BAD ROADS also play major role in the road accidents. Government after government but still we have narrow one-way highway roads (e.g. Accra to Kumasi), roads with huge potholes, which drivers maneuver to dodge, untarred roads which become impassable after rains. Where do the several loans and grants from Western nations to build roads go??
6) UNLICENSED & UNQUALIFIED DRIVERS are abundant on the roads. Thanks to bribery with our corrupt officials at the License office, who issue licenses to untested drivers and, thus become killers on the roads;
7) Don't Sit Down Yet: Corrupt Police officers also allow "unsafe vehicles, unlicensed drivers, violators of driving regulations, etc., etc. GET AWAY with their crimes JUST BY ACCEPTING SOME FEW CEDIS AS BRIBES;
8) INSURANCE PREMIUMS should be raised to the roof and high enough that careless driving would cost you an arm and a leg, if you get yourself involved in accidents;
9) Commercial and other passenger car OWNERS should also be educated and warned about the costs of silly accidents by the paid drivers. Since the cars don’t belong to them, they care less when on the roads; &
10) PERIODIC DRIVER EDUCATION to hone driving skills. Government and the DVLA should determine when drivers should “attend refresher classes” to update their driving skills. It could be every 3 or 4 or 5 years and that should be imprinted on their driver licenses and in violation, they should lose their driving licenses—but only if our road police officers would enforce the regulations. Enough of the road carnage is enough!!

Amongst other factors, the police also fail in their duty to regulate drivers- the police will collect a bribe from a drunken driver, overspeeding drivers n let them off. The police will take a bribe if your tyres are worn out / lights not working / not having the correct documentation etc and let the drivers off! What's the point of traffic police when all the do is take bribes from defaulting drivers.
On another note I think we ought to develop a railway system to act as another alternative to ease road traffic- our roads are so choked with vehicular traffic!

Our roads are so bad, walking is even becoming dangerous. Let's work together to fix our roads to save lives. How many people should die before this can be recognized as a major problem. Wake Up Ghana!!!!!
