The National Campaign Coordinator of the National Democratic Congress, Kofi Adams, has discounted claims made by President Mahama that he contributed significantly to the writing of the 2016 manifesto of the party. According to Kofi Adams, who disclosed this to Brong Ahafo regional executives of the NDC on Thursday, 15th September, in preparation for the NDC's manifesto launch on Saturday, urged the members of the party to "treat the President's remarks with a pinch of salt." Kofi Adams, whose claim did not sit down well with regional executives, told the 25-man team gathered at the Eusbett Hotel, that "President Mahama did not write 'foko'. He did not contribute in any way to the drafting of the Manifesto. You can ask any of the committee members. Lee Ocran is here, you can ask him." Member of the Manifesto Committee, Lee Ocran, who has been a member over the years of various manifesto committees, subtly tried to water-down Kofi Adams' comments by stating that "well, I wouldn't use Kofi Adams' word and say the President did not write 'foko'. Yes, it is true that he did not contribute to the writing, but at least he saw the final draft before it went for printing." ADVERTISEMENT As though this was not enough, Lee Ocran further stated that "the draft manifesto come to as without a single mark or annotation by the President, meaning he was very comfortable with the manifesto given him." This submission by Lee Ocran, drew an angry response by Kofi Adams, who stated, to the dismay of the NDC faithful gathered that "I don't know why Lee Ocran is being diplomatic. I will call a spade a spade". He told the Brong Ahafo Regional executives to cast their minds back to the presentation of the manifesto highlights made by President Mahama, saying that "the President's presentation was one of someone who did not even know the details of the manifesto, he was just reading out the highlight with no emotional attachment to it whatsoever." The bombshell, which was to break the proverbial camel's back was yet to come. Kofi Adams, who is also the National Organiser of the NDC, told the gathering that "we never plagiarized or copied the NPP's manifesto for 2016. This is because they don't have a manifesto yet. However, we picked ideas from the NPP flagbearer. He has said some useful things, which we dubbed. After all, they were just ideas he was floating about and not contained in any formal document." It will be recalled that on the same day Kofi Adams was making this disclosure, President Mahama was also addressing chiefs and members of the Ga Traditional Council, where he contradicted Kofi Adam's claims by stating that he directly participated in the drafting of the NDC 2016 manifesto and can vouch for its originality. "I was directly involved in writing the manifesto for the NDC and so I know everything that is in that manifesto because I participated. The problem of these NDC mosquito stomach politicians is that they are ignorant of the fact that Nkrumah's misguided spending spree and squandering of our reserves was the beginning of our economic troubles. The man was also a communist and blood-thirsty dictator that made himself president for life and did not like free and fair elections at all. Like Kwame Nkrumah, Mahama didn't grow our economy; he only borrowed more money to land our country in HIPIC and received more revenues from oil and high taxes, but cannot account for greater part of the infrastructure money. Ghanaians too are suffering and the best way to describe John Mahama is very, very corrupt and incompetent.

Remember er that her husband is still in the party and her daughter Zenator is standing not on the mother's party ticket but on the ticket of the NDC. By and large, the NPP lived up to its doctrine under Kufuor, overseeing rapid growth in business, especially in financial services, while introducing major social interventions like health insurance, free maternal care, school feeding, capitation grant, etc.

Perhaps, the more serious question is how the socialist revolutionary party has become the vanguard of capitalist reforms (ala Washington Consensus) in Africa? Symbolically, the NPP took us out of IMF control. The NDC took us back! Even more symbolic, Asiedu Nketiah has grown rich off public investments like Bui Dam, the sort of thing associated with crony capitalism!

General Mosquito is very right in reminding the NPP about their ideology which is based on trickle down philosophy. Private capitalist are supposed to own and posses capital, become rich and then through their benevolence, the flow over would trickle down to the less privileged. This is the basic assumption of apologists of Capitalism. The state has no business in business. So why is NPP, the avowed copy cat capitalist in Ghana since independence now fighting NDC over ideology? Are they no more sure of the appeal of Capiatilism? If they wish to abandon it in favour of Social democracy, they are welcome to join the only truly social democratic party, the NDC. However, the NPP must come clean and denounce capitalism before stealing socialist ideas, and turn round to say those ideas belong to you. The foundation of NPP is deep rooted in chronic and parasitic capitalism, and they must not be ashamed of that, else no body would take them serious anymore, instead they would be seen as opportunists trying to use socialist principles to steal votes from the socialist parties, the Nkrumahist parties. NPP is at cross roads, whether to continue with capitalism or switch over to socialism. The choice is theirs, but they have no claim to socialist programs and interventions.

But it was still practiced as district mutual scheme. It took Prof Atta Mills to make it truly national. This is the fact. NDC govt took the NHIS to the highest level by creating the infrastructure and control mechanisms to reduce the fraud left by the NDC.

The school feeding and capitation grant were not the idea of Kuffour but they were in shrines in the FCUBE policy.
