The airport is being upgraded, starting with the extension of the length of the runway by more that 1,400 metres. Tamale airport has for the first time during the NDC era been fitted with runway lights, Approach lights, Instrument Landing System (ILS) . The second phase would see the building of a new modern terminal, car parks and office building for GACL. Let Hamid know that a Boeing 747 could not have landed in Tamale if the runway had not been extended, and no reputable airline will fly into Tamale without an ILS. Mustapha Hamid should not come on this platform to expose his ignorance. Tamale airport is being put in shape that will make it fit for what any modern International Airport is. The NPP promised in 2000 to build railway line from Takoradi to Wa, but after 8 years, not only did they not build one meter of rail line, they succeeded in destroying what was already there. However, the NDC has built a modern rail line from Takoradi to Kojokrom, with modern stations along the route. Plans are ongoing to continue northwards. NPP is a Lying, Deceitful, Corrupt, Arrogant and Ethnocentric Party which must not be trusted. Mustapha Hamid and his ilk must give us a break.

It is interesting that Hamid has to cite some book. Why can't he say HE HIMSELF WITNESSED Tamale airport hosting international flights in the 1970s? Was Hamid not in Ghana in the 1970s? It’s liars who quote books in this manner.
The 1970s flights that Hamid cites -- were they large aircrafts like the Boeing 747 flight now using the UPGRADED Tamale Airport? In any event, whether historic or not, the present government has at least revived it to ease the hardship that northern pilgrims endure when they have had to go down and fly from Accra. Can Hamid deny this? Stop criticizing and give credit where credit is due.
