Very interesting report and kudos to the researchers. SSNIT is to blame for the poor performance of this laudable scheme. I recall a few years after the setting up of the SSNIT Informal Sector Fund, SSNIT claimed they cannot support the Fund any longer. They then bundled the whole thing and gave it to NTHC. Now the whole scheme is suffering from lack of leadership and a well structured strategy. It was amazing how short-sighted people at SSNIT decided to kill this scheme for selfish interests. I hope one day a visionary Director General would see it fit to take it back from NTHC and set up a proper management structure to oversee the Scheme. It's a shame this happened. I hope those who executed the demise of the SSNIT Informal Fund are one day prosecuted for not only the financial loss to the state for funds that could have been mobilized from the informal sector but additionally for punishing informal sector workers who genuinely bought into the scheme.

Good report however I fail to see how SSNIT is being denied of investible funds. SSNIT in all measure is a cash cow for the government to invest in stupid things.
