I hope Ghana will consider this carefully. I personally don't trust the Europeans. Once they get free access to Ghana's market and give Ghana access to their markets, they will pretend that the quality of goods exported from Ghana is unwholesome and begin to ban items from Ghana.
Moreover, I think it is not advisable for Ghana, a country which lacks the ability to monitor and collect full VAT internally, to loose its ability to collect external tax. Import taxes appear to be the most effective avenue of revenue. Loosing that tax means loosing most of the revenue the nation depends on. And I doubt that exporters will pay honest taxes for the wealth they will gain from exporting to the EU. As it is now the internal revenue ministry is full of corruption. They will never truly audit companies and insure right taxes are collected. Officers will rather take bribes, than report companies.
If Ghana can not device a means to collect full VAT and other internal taxes then throwing away import taxation that comes from EU is foolish.

Can Hannah Tetteh be trusted to serve Ghana's interest in these circumstances. She's known to be easily swayed by gifts and hand-outs. Lets stop selling off the country to people who don't care a hoot about Africans!!!
