Professor Gadzekpo, please note that theory cannot equate wisdom. My good book tells me that the 'law was made for man but not man for the law'. You vividly remember that in RWANDA, it took a stupid journalist to evoke war between the Tutsis and the Hutus to go to war thus killing about 800,000 people. If you are a regular visitor to the GHANAWEB, you would realise the antagonism between the EWES and the ASHANTIS which has been exposed because of the 2016 general elections.I pray that nothing happens but, prof. should something ugly happens, please note that those war mongers know you to be an EWE.The IGP in his own wisdom has suggested the ban on the election day only! Remember what JESUS said which I wish to repeat: 'THE LAW WAS MADE FOR MAN, BUT NOT MAN FOR THE LAW'. PROFESSOR, GATSEKPO, do you want to challenge what the Lord Jesus Christ said?. Because it is a SABBATH DAY and somebody is dyeing, so you should let him die if you can prevent it?.

his level of analysis and sorry to say he does not deserve to hold the position.

IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR DON'T FEAR SOMETHING. EVEN IGP KUDALOR IS SCARED, SO WHO SHOULD NOT BE SCARED? THIS WHOLE THING SMACKS OF SILLINESS AND CHILDISHNESS. AND IT WILL ALL LEAD TO A REGRETTABLE STATE OF CONFUSION IN DECEMBER. THE IGP SESES TROUBLE, MAHAMA HOMSELF IS WORRIED ABOUT THE COING ELECTIONS, NDC IS SCARED, OPPOSITION PARTIES ARE SUSPICIOUS, THE CLERGY, TRADITIONAL RULERS, ELECTORAL COMMISSION, ALL ARE WORRIED ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON AT THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION. SADLY HOWEVER, NON OF THEM HAS BEEN ABLE TO FACE THE FACTS AND SUGGESTED A SOLUTION. MAHAMA IS CLANDESTINELY MAKING THE EC LOOK UNTOUCHABLE, AND THE EC IS STUPIDLY FEELING UNTOUCHBLE. BUT SHE WILL BE TOUCHED BECAUSE GHANA DOES NOT BELONG GTO HER. SHE WILL BE TOUCHED BECAUSE SHE CAN'T BE ALLOWED TO LEAD GHANA INTO A STATE OF ANARCHY ALL BECAUSE MAHAMA WANTS TO REMAIN IN POPWER AT ALL COSTS. BUT WHY FEAR ANYTHING WHEN THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR? IF MAHAMA THINKS HIS RECORDS WILL SPEAK FOR HIM IN NOVEMBER AS HE HAS BEEN BOASTING, THEN WHY HIDE BEHIND THE EC TO MANIPULATE THE ELECTORAL PROCESS? AND SINCE THE OPPOSITION GROUPS ARE NOT PREPARED TO COPROMISE THE RULE, THE END RESULT WILL BE CHAOS. THAT IS THE SOURCE OF KUDALOR'S FEARS. YES, WE WILL HIT THE STREETS.

Hitting the street is not the best response. The IGP has no such authority under the laws of Ghana to impose any ban on the use of social media. The best solution is to use the court system to block the IGP from pursuing the ban. Ghana is not under the dictatorship of the IGP and under parliamentary democracy the IGP should be the first to know that he has no authority to make laws for Ghana except parliament.

Is it the feminist ideology, or is it the women's "empowerment" ideology? Or is it the result of a social media, Western-inspired influence?
I am curious to know your perspective on this matter since you hold to "women's empowerment" in Ghana today. Thank you.

John Mahama's last resort to hang onto power isvthe security apparatus of state and it is very evident. We have seen the BNI now transformed into a quasi-NDC security outfit.
We have seen the Poiice service begin to veer into the realm of violence and intimidation all in an attempt to cower the masses. We saw it during recent demonstrations involving the LMVCA protests. We saw it during the Agbogbloshie protests which interestingly saw the Police running helper-skelter from a very determined citizenry leading to reenforcement from the military.
Now, we are hearing of Kudalor John the IGP, at the instigation of John Dramani Mahama's NDC gov't attempting to introduce censorship of the Ghanaian media and communication landscape, after the Appenteng-led National Media Commission failed to achieve that discreditable infringement of media plurality and freedom of the press through that so-called Content Authorization Law, for which the GIBA caused to be outlawed by the highest court of the land.
Clearly, John Dramani Mahama and his horde of brigands just do not want to accept their fate at the ballot box this November, a fate he cannot change and it portends danger for this country.
Ghanaians insist the corrupt and incompetent John Dramani Mahama NDC gov't has failed and wants nothing to do with them. He must and will go!!!

Koku and the IGP need to have their heads examined for their attempts to stifle the freedom of the people to express themselves through social media. That's not a function of the police. They may not like what others are saying about a particular party, but such is the right to free speech. The IGP and Koku need to be locked up in the same prison cell until the elections are over. The confused Ghana Police is just trying to trample on the right of the people to freely express themselves. This amounts to a masked governmental tyranny, and the public should stand steadfastly against such tyranny.

A SHORT LETTER TO THE IGP OF GHANA
Good morning Mr. IGP. Some few hours ago I read in the papers that you are considering the option of banning social media on the eve of elections if the need be or set up a social media account to neutralized any misguided or abuse of the platform.
Option 1: By IGP
“At one stage I said that if it becomes critical on the eve and also on the Election Day, we shall block all social media as other countries have done. We’re thinking about it,” Kudalor told the media Thursday
Mr. IGP "as other countries have done" kindly mention names of such countries and I will show you their level of human rights compliant and democracy.
Option 2: By IGP
“We are also thinking about the other alternative that the police should be IT compliant and get our own social media [account] to be able to stop these things on time,” Kudalor added.
I have an opinion as a concern citizen of our beloved country and I would like to share with you.
Addressing Option 1 by the police chief
Before I share my concerns and or opinion I would like us all to answer the following questions.
• Is Ghana a communist, one party state or a parliamentary democratic, multi-party state?
• Is Ghana under dictatorship or under democracy?
It is very important that as a nation we set the right precedence. If we really claim we are democratic and the beacon of hope for Africa.
I agree that social media can be abuse by any person or group of persons just as the authority of the security agency can be abuse by any officer or group of officers.
But must we ban the security services because some unscrupulous characters have abused the powers of the service? Or must we ban or limit the powers of the security agency because some have abused their powers. Certainly no.
Then how well must we behave in the event of abuse of any system or institution as a civilized nation. If the media is considered as the fourth arm of government then why do we want to impede the way the media gets information?
If your informant lied does that mean all informants are liars? Or would you not like to ask for public partnership in fighting crimes?
Infact you will put in place measures to ensure that the information you receive to act is properly scrutinized before acting on it.
I repeat Mr. IGP is this the way to go for our most envied democracy? Again mention names of such countries you were referring to whose examples have so much caught your attention that you would like to follow.
This is the age of technology so my advice to my fellow countrymen is that should the Ghana police block social media kindly download cloud VPN on your play store which will bypass the block and you will have access to youtube, twitter, facebook and the rest. Just type cloud VPN and you will be exposed to a number of them. Please choose one to download and hola you are back online 24/7.
At the mention of such countries my brothers and sisters then we as a nation should decide whether we want them as good examples, role models or bad precedence of our successes as a democratic and civilized country.
Just look at countries that shut down social media and their pedigree Mr. IGP;
1. Turkey- This country never be deceived that it is truly democratic
2. Eritrea (2011) - Single party republic
3. Iran (2009- My intention is not to spark religious sentiments. In short not a good example for Ghana
4. Pakistan (2012) - My intention is not to spark religious sentiments. In short not a good example for us.
5. China (2009)-One party Communist system
6. Vietnam (2013)-A communist state and even passed a law to prohibit it
7. North Korea- Communist dictatorship
Check all the countries mentioned above whether they are our example of multi-party system of democracy.
8. Uganda added itself on the list in 2015 & 2016. Check the political history and current events in Uganda if that country is our role model.
From the above you can see for yourself that communist, single party systems one religious state system and dictators for fear of the outside world to know their thievery and human rights abuses shut down social media
Security decisions in my opinion must be made base on the situation and the people. The level of civilization in this country and what we pride ourselves in as a people, banning social media must be above us.
Mr. IGP option 1 is an inferior, crude, primitive and uncivilized tactics for a country like Ghana.
Addressing Option 2 by the police chief
Option 2 appears to be more like Ghana. I mean it is a more civil, democratic approach.
The Ghana police should rather live up to the civilization the country has subscribed to and not the other countries mentioned above. The above countries must not be our role model. This is 21st century civilization and not slavery. Mr. IGP please step up your game.

Banning social media will not be a solution to political violence, but it will rather pave a way for political violence. Because, it will heighten suspicions that the incumbent government want to use some dubious means to win the election, of which the IGP is trying to do cover up. Therefore, it is better the IGP reverse his decision.

How is sending information that can instantly be corroborated by everyone on social media, be a threat to national security. The IGP should focus on his core responsibility and leave our democracy alone.
