In case he is unaware, as far back as the early 1960s, our late indefatigable first President Osajefo Kwame Nkrumah had the vision to start prospecting for oil in my village. However, soon after the 1966 putsch, the project situated between Avenorpeme and Atsiavi, which brought massive economic activity to the area was discontinued and abandoned. For a long time successive governments had failed or refused to revamp this project. Now that it is back on the table, those who have sworn on their lives never to see the Southern Volta Region develop have started their machinations again. This time the youth of Southern Volta should resist the triabalist goons.

If there was not enough hydrocarbon deposits worth drilling, I don't think Osajefo would have committed funds to drilling for oil in my village in the 60s. Don't comment on issues you don't have a clue about.

Why on earth is Mr. Addo trying to block the exploration of oil in the Volta basin? It sounds like a sabotage to me. His name tells it all. The President is aware of the ongoing project for the exploration in the area and has promised the Chiefs on the issue and possibilities of a future boom in the area for the youth and the country in general. The exploration and oil drilling in the Volta basin is supposed to be a direct funding by the government and will be a direct income for the nation. In my opinion, Mr. Addo has a hidden agenda.

The board chair is appointed by the government and would not be there if he is not one of them. i think you should rather want to know what went into why he said what he said. for me i don't buy his point but please do not make it look like a certain group of people want to sabotage. just check on the internet for the full size of the voltain basin before you argue this out. thank you

My friend, what is reported here is phooey, since the GNPC does not revolve around Mr. Felix Addo, the Board Chairman alone. Things are far advanced into the exploitation for oil and gas prospects in the Voltaian Basin project and the GNPC is only doing her core mandate of collecting credible seismic data for a better interpretation before the oil majors the world over as well as being a major stakeholder in this very project for the first time in Ghana's history.

So, the GNPC is preparing the groundworks for the oil companies that might later come in for the real cash intensive drilling. In fact, the faceless reporter has no links at all with the GNPC or what's going on there and just making up stories. If he or she were true GNPCian he/she would have known that the money for the Voltaian Basin Petro-Carbon Deposits has been disbursed already and the recent anomalies with the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah would have had no bearing whatsoever on the ongoing Voltaian project. What a load of lies this piece really is!

Surely, a carried interest in a farm-out agreement, in present market conditions, is a far better option, than the potential risk of a company like the GNPC losing hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars of borrowed money - and saddling Mother Ghana with yet more debt?

Even in America Individuals own oil rigs onshore. What is wrong in Ghanaian Millionnaires having a skate in all this blocks scattered from the south to the north of the Volta Basin. The Amoabens Indooms Jonahs and many more can each be producing 2,000barrels Linked to a pipeline straight to Burkina Faso or Wa Refinery.
