Mahama with oil money has borrowed Ghc 99 million in jux 7 yrs. Mahama said he will build 200 SHS in 4 yrs. He has now built 7.

It is instructive to note that the same Mr. Marfo was flown abroad for medical treatment at the expense of the tax payer. How is it that a farmer who was rich enough to pay for the renovation of the residence of the President needed the tax payer's money to seek medical treatment or was it a case of one good turn deserves another?

Eweman, I would not state that J.J. Rawlings is stupid at all. In fact for a trained Air Force Pilot he has proven to be one of the most shrewdest politicians in the history of Ghana. Through the formation of the PNDC/NDC, J.J. Rawlings, has since 1981, managed to successfully impose a one party state on Ghana. Since 1981, the PNDC or NDC have been in Government for all but 8 years. Why President Nkrumah is regularly criticised for imposing a one party state and detaining political opponents. J.J. Rawlings carried out public executions on 3 Former Heads of States, 3 High Court Judges and numerous other Human Rights abuses. Yet, he does not receive even a fraction of the criticism that President Nkrumah does. Personally, I fully agree with all of the criticisms of J.J. Rawlings, made by Eweman however, I totally disagree that he is one of the most stupid leaders. If anyone is silly it is Ghanaians for allowing this half white murderer & con man ( we hailed as 'Junior Jesus') to rule over us for nearly 2 decades.

What many are not aware is that, truly Rawlings formed NDC and his concept freeing the people is BUGA BUGA. However, the reality is that ,the he party formed has slipped through his fingers into the hands of the great followers of TRUE NKRUMAHIST people.

It is not in doubt that Professor Mills was a die-hard Nkrumahist.
It is also not in doubt that John Mahama is a die-hard Nkrumahist.

He Rawlings is an Nkrumahist but only trying to make his own name other be in the shadow of Nkrumah.

The Bitter Truth is that, many people prefer to be under the shadow of Nkrumah than the Rawlings. What makes his case worse is the behaviour of Rawlings’ wife, Nana Konadu, she is the one muddying the achieving of her husband out of greedy and bitterness. The respect of that family is fading away faster than the sunset. They have a lot to answer to Ghanaians than to blame their present circumstances on the innocent Professor Mills and John Mahama.

He should count the number of coups that occurred in his reign and count his blessing for living today. The Prof was absolutely right. Mills has been dead for some years now so it does not make sense for Papa Jerry to continue to say uncomplimentary things about him. It is like opening old sores. How does he expect Prof Mills family to feel? Prof Mills was not dumb. He was rather humane and God fearing. The political situation at that time did not allow him to do whatever Papa Jerry wanted him to do. After all, he was his own man and posterity would judge him according to his rule. There is also no good reason to sanction your own party publicly and to the media. Uncle Kuffour will never do that. He would rather work behind the scenes and will seldom say things to the media about his party. Papa Jerry, that is statesmanship. One person cannot be the bastion of all knowledge. It is not all times that you expect your party and president to agree with you. If you continue like that, you open the floodgates of insults on you and your family. Even your own party members will turn against you. Some have done so already because of Konadu forming another party and sometimes the "booms" you make.

On reading the headline "Mills Was Disappointing, Shallow -Rawlings", I said to myself " Oh Chief, the man is dead, leave him alone".
But when I read the full text I realized that once again Rawlings has been taken out of context.
Journalists who cover former President Jerry Rawlings must bear in mind that it is not easy to cover Rawlings.
This is because whereas the average speaker at a function usually takes one subject and exhaust it before moving to the next subject, Jerry Rawlings has the rare gift to be able to talk on half a dozen or so contentious topics at the same time, by jumping from two or three paragraphs into each topic to the next and back again and onto an entirely different strand and so on.
This in my experience has the tendency to get many of his listeners utterly confused.
Even as far back as the June 4 and 31 December era, there were many in the "progressive groupings" such as the NDM, June 4 and DYLG who opined openly that "the man is not clear".
An European journalist who interviewed him in the early 1980s when he was Chairman of the PNDC was so bewildered that he wrote Rawlings had "the attention span of a six year old"
My free advice to reporters reporting Rawlings is this -- (1) Before you attend a function where Rawlings will be speechifying, make an effort to understand the historical context in which the event is taking place.
It is clear from what I have read so far that many of the people who covered the story of his meeting with the Cuban trained graduates for their news outlets did not know the context in which students of Ghana were sent to the Isle of Youth in Cuba in the 1980s
(2) Do not write your notes as you do normally. Have at the back of your head that you are writing several reports from one speech and so write your notes under different headings. As soon as he switches from one to the other, switch your notes and write it under the other topics.
If you keep doing this, you will have a coherent report to make in the days to come on the several subjects his speech will inevitably touch on.

I strongly believe there is some truth to what J. J. said about Mills. While I acknowledge that it is generally discourteous to berate a dead person, when it comes to critical analysis of anyone's political contributions, we should not cover a deceased Politician's imperfections with sheer courtesy. Otherwise, we would never figure out what errors were made and how to proceed to have better governance.

It would be most disingenuous to claim the late President Mills was fully in charge of his Administration. It might have been because of his failing health. But the truth is that it was the Awhois and a few others who were running the show. This assertion does not and should not be seen as denigrating the image of the deceased President, and it is not an insult. It is an objective observation.

President Mills seemed to have fully entrusted the governance of the Nation to the hands of these folks that not even his VP, John Mahama, could effectively control, or redirect as to how issues ought to be handled. Mills' Presidential Powers had been diffused among these surrogates of his, and no one was clearly in firm control.

There was a general Presidential aloofness to the corruption that had reared its ugly head. Or, should I say, hydra-head? The weak oversight of the subordinates only allowed space for many in his Administration to take the State for granted, and given the taint of the charge against Mahama of some misconduct in the Purchase of the Planes, he either conveniently let things roll on to have many more be similarly tainted, or, he did not want to rattle the nest to bring more attention to the charge against him.

This scenario, I believe, gives more credence to why the Awhois suddenly phased out of John Mahama's Administration. It is by no accident that they still remain relatively obscure for all this while in John Mahama's reign.

With regard to J. J.'s stereotypical denunciation of Nkrumahists, I would dare say that he misfired. The fact is that J. J. portrayed himself as a Nkrumahist, when he first came upon the scene. What is crucially significant to observe is that he, J. J., drew blood from the other Nkrumahists, like Boakye Djan, his old pal, when he overthrew Dr. Liman's Administration.

Those Nkrumahists who would have wished that J. J. left Dr. Liman to stay and serve his full term are the ones that still bear grudge against Rawlings, and he, J. J., knows that and therefore, wastes no moment to hit back at them.

Nevertheless, it is worth noting that the NDC ironically, absorbed many of the Nkrumahists, including the Awhois and Mills, versus the Danquah-Busia-Dombo incarnation of PFP/UNC/NPP. Yet, many others in the Nkrumahist 'faith' totally stayed out of it.

The Francis Kwartengs and Dr. Kusi Domprehs outside Ghana, for example, seem to be more reflective of Nkrumah's ideals than anyone in the NDC, or even the CPP, right now.

So, it is very misleading for J. J. to characterize all Nkrumahists as being the most dangerous political elements in Ghanaian Politics. I truly wonder if anyone could be more dangerous to Ghana's Political stability and progress than Akufo-Addo and his Hitlerian minions.

Rawlings, obviously, surely did not see Boakye Djan as such when the latter saved his sorry 'arse' from the Firing Squad!

We must acknowledge that people change sides or shift between political extremes with time, given the vicissitude of policy changes by the main actors or entities.

If that wasn't the case, we would never have seen Paa Willie leave PFP to form UNC, for instance. If that wasn't the case, we would not see Akufo-Addo and his Mafia incessantly assaulting the so-called Kufuor Faction of the NPP.

So, let J. J. tell us where he belongs, now? Does he belong to a brand new Political group entirely? Maybe, to his wife's new Party? Or, he always did belong to that group but used the charade of pro-Nkrumahist to assemble a critical mass to sail through the storm that his opponents, especially, the UP/NPP, folks posed to his course?

I see J. J. praising Nkrumah, even as he berates the Nkrumahists. Maybe he only wants to point out that those calling themselves Nkrumahists in the NDC are rather fake Nkrumahists, and that he and others are the true ones.

I would hereby want to end this contribution with the simple and more conspicuous notion that J. J. still shares grudge with those Nkrumahists who never favored his overthrow of Dr. Liman. That makes Mills one such Politician, and J. J. can never be fully appreciable of him and them.

Immediately President Macky Sall of Senegal won the presidential elections against the Wade, he directed the Ministries shut for a short period. This was to prevent those involved in certain dubious activities and fraud from stealing documents linking their supercherie. And he was right. Many people in administrative positions really tried to steal cars and documents and were caught directly in the act. They were able to retrieve every single state cars being used by individuals who shouldn't use them and many fraudulent activities. And they were all jailed later on. The former President’s son is still in jail!

When Mills won, he was so relaxed, so removed from reality that his lethargy made the state lose over 800 cars which were gone missing and never found today and left ministries burnt to ashes. But this example was the tip of the iceberg. You know what Mr Zero-Tolerance-for-Corruption did to the country!

Those are some of the things JJ was pointing to. But as a President, he also wasn't able to check his entourage who were clearly visibly corrupt.

Rawlings daily anger at Mills is simply because Mills refused to be driven by Rawlings who taught without him nobody in Ghana can rule and manage better than him, a mentality which could be described as primitive in disguise.

This is one of the many reasons that caused Rawlings to put Atta Mills in the position he is describing him. In reality Atta Mills is morally sound than Rawlings because Rawlings has not got good home, which is easily portrayed lately by the funny actions of the wife who all rational Ghanaians are aware that she is off the line.

This behaviour of hatred of Rawlings and the wife shows how they both lack morality and common sense because in reality Atta Mills naturally had nothing wrong against them but due to the Ghanaian cultural, traditional primitivity that had engulfed and clothed them foolishly they felt Mills should logically be under their control in all areas which should be under Mills directions.

Rawlings' desription of Mills as disappointed and shallow is a point that never fit into what Rawlings is putting across. The simple reason is that Mills is more intelligent and cleaner than Rawlings because even though he appointed Mills as vice president, he, Rawlings is not the depository of wisdom that he could come out in the open and talk like he is the best, forgetting that he is more shallow minded and disappointed lately than Mills.
