This mathematics which can even be done by a BECE candidate who cannot write his final exams without questions leaks, and could not be done by President Mahama nor Seth Terkper as they want us to believe, will reveal to us how deliberately corrupt and financially reckless they are as far as the management of our economy is concerned. The Eurobond attracts an interest of 10.75% to be paid by the government of Ghana, $250m out of it is illegally deposited in UBA, a private bank. The bank, which is UBA in turn, decides to buy GHS 950 million of government Treasury bills at a rate of 24% (using the 1-year note); the bank would have made a hefty GHS 233 (USD 61) million profit in nominal terms just by loaning this same money to the government. Friends in the media, if this is not a 419 scam visited on unsuspecting Ghanaians by President Mahama, then what else is it? – Meanwhile, this is a President who is walking freely on the streets of London shamelessly mocking Ghanaians that he has never taken bribe, my goodness!!! Note therefore, that Government is paying 10.75% 24% which is 34.75% interest on the money he borrowed from the capital market. Government is paying 24% interest on his own money to a private firm. Is this sheer wickedness, foolishness, witchcraft or what? We cannot help, but agree with Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings when she posited few days ago and I quote, “If you borrow money at a high interest rate to lend it to another at a low interest rate then borrow your own money back from them at a high interest rate, you are either not wise, a thief or both. No wonder their campaign message of “vote for us so they don’t jail us, it’s time to save Ghana from this criminality”. In fact NPP is advised to look for someone better to lead them into the 2020 elections since Bawumia has no chance. I advise them to opt for Dan Botwe.

Was it not yesterday the man said "Talk is Cheap". After several years in the political wilderness, most Ghanaians voted across party lines to usher in the NPP under H.E.President J.A Kufour. HIPIC came to the rescue but Ghanaians showed their dissatisfaction by consigning the NPP to opposition again. Dumsor had been from the era of the NPP. Infact, it is one of Africa's nightmares. I recall hearing Pastor Otabil enumerating all the various names it is called in all the regions of Africa. It was Africa's problem simply put. It must be borne in mind that Nigeria with vast oil reserves experiences dumsor. The NDC under H.E. John Mahama promised consigning dumsor to history. Has the promise been delivered? NPP is not a new political party as when Dr Nkrumah was promising Ghana a photocopy of Europe but to tighten our belts. His plans were frustrated massively by his detractors. When he was overthrown and the fore-runner of the NPP, the Progress Party came to power under Dr Busia it became clear that governance is not smooth sailing. His term was terminated. The NPP is making their third bid to govern Ghana, but we have the two of their past lives to analyze. How did they do? I will do so and so and I will construct this road linking here to there at what cost and whence will the money come from. After all these massive projects, Ghanaians are being promised, would there still be enough money to buy kenkey at 50p? What will give under NPP for this promises? The Economists are aware that even in the mighty West, there is no such policy as unlimited resources. And so how will the promises of Nana be fulfilled and still give Ghanaians some kind of cushioned life? Or the script has already been prepared that previous administration has mismanaged funds. Granted, it is political propaganda to promise anything that people wish to hear but which does not come with the ultimate question, where will the money be coming from? Y3n tua or HIPIC may give some relief. Ghana is waking up to development projects everywhere. It will cost money and where Ghana has not got the money loans come handy especially if Government believes and the lenders have sound reason to believe their monies are secured enough. Is it a question of the present Government borrowing to develop Ghana for future generations? How will the feel good factor promised come? Without costs and without debts? Who will pay for mother Ghana? Please give us figures that are verifiable not promises.
