Nyaho's point is that from what happened in the past , it is strange to see this development. Given the brutalities that were meted out to innocent people in the name of politics.

To me this confirms what I've always believed , that politicians only use the ignorant ones in our society to advance their personal agendas only to dump them later. Unfortunately this army of ignoramuses abound and are still following them. It's a spirit which possesses and drives them. We must pray for them and advice our kith and kin to avoid them.

Also, Nyaho must appreciate that time heals wounds. Over the years they both ( Rawlings and Nana) have seen and recognized their mistakes; and as they are getting older wisdom is transforming their outlook. Which is a good thing.

All who knew both men in the past will appreciate and commend them for what they are doing by normalizing relationships before they pass on.

So please Nyaho do commend them. But your point is also worth noting. The victims who suffered under the two men's actions are the losers. It's sad !!!

Finally, many are seeing these developments also as a political ploy to break the NDCs solid voter base in the Volta.

What makes it even more interesting is that both Akufo-Addo and Konadu, in particular, are megalomaniacs who cannot ever take a defeat at a fair competition with grace and dignity. They are both sore losers who grow increasingly sour with every loss in any fair encounter.

Close watch of the two reveals they share the trait of being egoistic, self-centered, recklessly vindictive and bear grudges for eternity.

They both also seem to indicate that Ghana would never know progress without their leadership.

If they think they can revive the dead Transvolta Togoland Congress under S. G. Antor, to join the Akyem Mafia to take over the Country, they better think twice. There is no viable CPP to fight against, now. And Ghana is not going back to be fragmented to serve the ultimate selfish interests of the privileged few.

So, the Rawlings-Akufo-Addo Alliance wouldn't work to any better Ghana.

What is also strange is that the Rawlingses seem to have forgotten what Kufuor and his NPP administration also meted out to them when that party came to power in 2001. As soon as Kufuor and the NPP came to power, they sought to assassinate Rawlings, having the secret service agents trailing the former President almost everywhere he went. To find a legitimate charge against Rawlings in order to prosecute and imprison him and even sentence him to death, Kufuor immediately established the so-called National Reconciliation Commission to probe him, which Commission ended up finding nothing against him. Rawlings himself later on remarked that the Commission was set up merely because of one man, that one man being himself. Kufuor humiliated Rawlings by banning him from Burma Camp and dissolved the 64 battalion regiment that the Rawlings administration had established. Kufuor then made a wild and unsubstantiated allegation against Rawlings that he had sought the assistance of the leader of an oil rich country in the Middle East to overthrow him and his administration in a military coup. Kufuor then gave Akufo-Addo, who was then serving as the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice of that administration, the responsibility of further humiliating the former President by stripping him of all the privileges due to a former president. Consequently, Rawlings had to carry his own suit case at the airport when travelling. At the same time, Kufuor also castigated Rawlings, claiming that he was filthy rich through corruption.

While Kufuor and his administration were constantly on Rawlings neck, the latter too did not keep quiet either. He too continued to lambaste Kufuor and his administration about being corrupt. As the heat was being fanned on Kufuor in the country about his corruption, he was forced to make his famous statement that corruption had been in existence since the time of Adam.

All these are historical facts that are well known to Rawlings and his wife, but they have now strangely chosen to conveniently "forget" about them all in order to support the corrupt and unqualified Nana Akufo-Addo to become president. What travesty of justice! Why should Ghanaians elect a man who obtained a Third Class degree in economics from the University of Ghana after he had been kicked out of the University Oxford in England? More outrageously, he also claims to be a lawyer, but he has so far failed to tell Ghanaians which institution trained him as such, except he says that his law certificate is missing. Why should Ghanaians believe him and Kufuor who also claims to be a lawyer when we do not know which schools they both earned their law degrees? In Kufuor's case, Oxford University made it clear that he did not study law at that university; they explained in a letter to the then NDC opposition in parliament that the subjects Kufuor studied at Oxford were history, economics and philosophy. Therefore, where did Akufo-Addo and Kufuor study law? Are we Ghanaians so stupid that we don't care to know the backgrounds of our leaders?

Of course, Akufo-Addo's name may be in the Ghana Legal Council register as a lawyer all right, but this is Ghana: Akufo-Addo could have bribed his way in there. Something like that is so easy to do in Ghana.

So, the question is, why have President Rawlings and his wife now made 360% turn in supporting Akufo-Addo and his candidacy to become president of Ghana? The simple answer seems to be that they have lost their bearings. This is very sad for mother Ghana!
