The Govt and the nation at large would be better off if these same people were engaged to plant 20m trees, with each person responsible for the upkeep of just 20 trees. Think of the enormous benefits! Mining takes place in communities where trees have in the past been harvested for timber, with no meaningful reforestation beyond mere rhetoric. There would be no need for resettlement of the galamsey guys. Eco-tourism would be an extra!
