YOU THESE ASANTO-NPPs LOVE EUROPE AND TH RED HOLOCAUSTER EUROPEAN SO MUCH THAT YOU WOULD GIVE HIM EVERYTHING YOU HAVE PLUS THE BLOOD IN YOUR VEINS. EVERY FREEDOM AND WEALTH NKRUMAH THE MESSIAH(DON'T GET ANGRY AND VOMIT!) GAVE YOU, YOU HAVE RETURNED BACK AND GIVEN THE NAZI BRITISH AND LICKED THEIR HOMOSEXUAL BOOTS ON TOP.
DURING NKRUMAH GHANA OWNED 65% OF OBUASI GOLD MINES IT WAS CALLED.
THE SHEEP-HEADED NOTORIOUS LIARS COUNCIL CAME AND GAVE IT BACK 78% TO THE NAZI BRITISH. MESSIAH ACHEAMPONG(DONT GET ANGRY AND VOMIT, ACHEAPONG IS BETTER FOR US THAN ANY PERSON WHO HAVE EVER RULLED NAZI BRITAIN), ACHEAPONG MADE IT 55% FOR GHANA, BUT WHEN THE NOTORIOUS SELL-OUTS GOVERNMENT OF BUSIA KOFI CAME, HE GAVE IT OUT AGAIN SLAVISHLY(AND YOU WONERED WHAT HE READ IN SCHOOL)80% BACK TO THE NAZIS.
IGNORANT AND ILLETRATE JOHN RAWLINGS CAME AND BCOS HE DID NOT KNOW NOTHING THE NAZIZ WERE ABLE TO INCREASE THEIR SHARE UP TO 84%. THEN KWAKU DUAH HIMSELF (KTHIEFOUR & YOUR GOVERNMENT) CAME AND SENT SAM JONAH TO NAZILAND(LONDON) TO BE GIVEN KNIGHTHOOD TO HIM AND KTHIEEEEFOUR) AND YOUR GOVERNMENT NOW GAVE THE NAZIZ 94% OF OBUASI MINDS, AND TOLD THEM THAT THEY COULD HAVE IT ALL AND EVEN CHANGE ITS NAME IF THE WANTED. THEY DID AND CALLED IT "ANGLOGOLD ASANTE", MEANING 'THE FREE GOLD MINE FOR THE ENGLISH IN FOOOLISH ASANTELAND'.
SO WHO THE HELL ARE YOU KWARTENG, TO BLAME ANYBODY BUT YOURSELVES FOR THIS OBUASI STUPIDITY?.
AS LONG AS YOU LOVE THE NAZI BRITISH AND EVEN THEIR FEACES BUT HATE AFRICA, AFRICAN UNITY, SOVEREIGNTY AND EVEN YOUR FELLOW GHANAIANS, YOU WILL REMAIN IN THIS SORROWFUL ANDSTONE AGE LAMENTATIONS THAT YOU ARE.
JUST GO LOOK AT KUMASI AND THE FILTH OF RUBBISH AND TRIBAL NONSENSE THERE, THEN YOU KNOW THAT YOU GUYS ARE STILL IN STONE AGE, THOUGH YOU IGNORAMUSLY THINK THE NAZIS ARE YOUR BOSSES. THEY ARE ONLY BOSSES TO YOU, NOT TO FREE AFRICANS.
YOU SHOULD BE THE LAST AND MOST SHAMEFUL PEOLPLE AND PARTY TO SAY THIS ANYTHING LIKE THIS.
HAVE A NICE AFRICA DAY (IF YOU WANT)
AND A NASTY NAZI DAY (IF YOU LOVE).

The circle interchange along with Tetteh Kwashie(sp?) and other such developments is meaningless in terms of developing the nation. They are asthetics that are meant to blind and fool the average citizen into believing development propaganda. Ghana does not need supper highways, what they need is efficiency on all road networks. Thus spending all that money on single projects while 90% of the road networks in Ghana remain in such deplorable state for decades is reckless and fraudulent. When I can't travel from Accra to Kumasi under 3 hours, or Accra to Tema in 20 minutes - just some of the important economic links, then circle is useless.

Do you want companies to collapse before you realize the negative impact of the energy crisis in Ghana? What a president we have. Do you Know the number of Ghanian workers that have been laid off because of erratic power supply? How many people have you employed since you took over as President of the republic? How long did it take you to fix the 'dumsor' as you claimed in your state of the nation address even though it still persist? I don't want to talk about corruption. In any case did we vote for you to come and sleep as President? Is it that you have been blindfolded to the extend you don't see anything wrong with our current predicaments as a nation? What a President we have.

Perhaps the average Ghanaian has been made so poor that, the energy crisis in Ghana and its connection to job loss means very little to them. Thus politicians will continue to keep the masses in poverty thus rendering them hopeless in state affairs.

You are very naive MR MP. Globally, economies like China, USA and Europe are all struggling and when the Elephants fights, it is the grass which suffers. Ghana is experiencing the headwinds of the hiccups of the MAJOR economies. Shut up and understand that we in Ghana and indeed Ghana, is dependent on the hand outs from the IMF and the World Bank. NPP was lucky in 2001-2009 because the World economies was in strong position and hence, Ghana old debts stock were written off but not now that the West is suffering. NPP will struggle when it comes to power

I didn't read your entire article so forgive me if I missed an important point. As such, this reply is solely on the first sentence. I believe the MP made some very sensible connections between the current energy crisis and the collapse of companies. This is credible argument to make. Ownership of corporations has very little meaning with the current globalized world. What's important is the importance of that company in the country it's in. As Ghanaians, it's important we start to things in the light of how well it serves as all as supposed to our political affiliations. Ghana first politics second.

Mr MP, please do not politicise AGA Obuasi current situation. AGA Management wants everyone to believe the illegal miners are disturbing their operations and government is doing nothing to help. That is not totally right.
Before the Limited Operation Phase of the mine, illegal miners activities underground was completely stopped and their operations on the surface went down to about 10%. The mine, with the help of some few police and military men, was able to manage the illegal miners until AGA operations was stopped.
The real issues are that
1.the present underground infrasructure need to be improved to facilitate operations and make it lucrative
2. Obuasi has a lot of environmental issues that have been identified by EPA and need to be addressed before the mine can start operations. The most important of the EPA issues is the tailings dam. Obuasi requires a new paln to handle tailings from the metallurgical plant.
The issues I have listed needs money to address and AGA is not ready to put in any more money.
The AGA Obuasi Mine has so much gold that can be mined for over 30 years.

Most of the comments are seriously lacking industry expertise as usual. Our main problem is our illiteracy and the way we behave. AngloGold is collapsing not because of the downturn in commodity prices, it is rather finding it difficult to attract investment to start mechanized underground mining due to the fact that previous und the current government have failed to secure the interest of the mining giant. Everytime an election is coming, gallamsey have been invading their properties since AngloGold has taken over. It is the obligation of the government of Ghana to protect their investment and they should be lucky if AGA is not opting to sue Ghana in the international courts for it. That would be another serious judgement debt and no major mining company would come again to Ghana. Politics in Ghana have destroyed business before and its still destroying business just because ion personal greed and incompetence.
