They tell people things that they themselves don't believe. When Nkrumah campaigned at Koforidua decades ago, he promised to build an airport there and people believed. My father laughed and said that cannot be true because the distance from Koforidua to Accra which most people travel to daily is just 55 miles by road. What the people needed at that time was good road and rail systems.

Mahama found it convenient to order the posting of trainee nurses from his native Gonja tribe to newly constructed health posts dotted across his native Gonjaland whilst neglecting those from other parts of Ghana. He even sidelined the Lobis(Brefos) within the same region and Gonja districts. All these Mahama is doing to carve out a separate region from the present Northern Region for Gonjas. With this wicked agenda by Mahama, how can Ghana develop under his presidency.
Go and see how Prez Mahama of Ghana has transformed Gonjaland with Ghana money just within the two and half years that he has been in power. Every town, village and hamlet in Gonjaland has received a facelift with new facilities such as roads, toilet facilities, markets, mosques, good quality water projects, electricity extension projects, etc. The question is did J. J. Rawlings do the same thing to Voltarians when he was in power for twenty years? What about Atta Mills. The good old Prof was in power for three and a half years yet he was not selfish to only concentrate on his people in Ekumfi Etuam and the central Region but rather his whole thought was for the general good. No wonder under the care of Prez Mills, Ghana achieved a growth rate of 11%, single digit inflation and the smooth implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy where newly recruited police personnel received the nominal equivalence of 500dollars as monthly salary. Compare these achievements to the nepotism and selfish policies of the Mahama government that has crippled the Ghanaian economy. I really weep for Ewes and Fantis whose votes brought Mahama to power and yet are the hardest hit by the current hardship prevailing in the country.

I fully agree with the comments made by C/C, who stated that ''Towns, Districts & Regions must be able to initiate their own economic developments''. I have argued for sometime now that neither the NDC or NPP, have the policies or solutions to meet the economic problems that they have created due to incompetent misuse of the country's natural resources & increasing levels of corruption. Traditional Rulers in different Regions are now realising that if they want to see economic development it will not happen under the current political system or through the actions of a NDC or NPP Government.

Oh yes, the chiefs are right in trying to call attention to the fact that politicians wanting votes always go to promise the people and their chiefs 'heaven' and later leave them in " hello after they the politicians get their wishes fulfilled. This situation is wide spread and it's the order of the day. Chiefs, you may complain but expect insults from the same people who canvassed for your votes. Some chiefs in the Volta region complained many times about neglect of their areas and instead of addressing their concerns, the President goes there to tell them his party has done more for them than the opposition. Yes, that's the order of the day. We have laws so the chiefs should do nothing to break the law but should rather remain patient and probably decide not to vote when the time comes. Refusing to allow people in to campaign may be against the law. Note that you are not the only ones confronted with these situations, it's how our Ghana has been reduced to.

Why say you have tarred the roads when it has not been tarred? Why will a President of a country do that? Why? Why will you go to Parliament and go and spew such falsehood on the floor of parliament in the SOTN address, a very important exercise to inform the people's representatives, the sub-regional community, the international community and all Ghanaians about the state of the nation under your leadership?
How can such a party and gov't and incumbent President lead this country? From Hamale in the Northern most part of Ghana to Axim in the South Western most part of Ghana, Ghanaians have been inundated with countless feedback on the SOTN address to be outright falsehood and a strong pivot away from the truth and reality.
Clearly there is no way John Mahama can lead this country considering the fact that the amount of resources that has accrued to this gov't is far greater than all govt's from independence to the previous Kufuor administration combined.

If roads in your areas have not been done the solution is not to boycott elections and forgo your right to decide who governs you. Who gives these Chiefs the right to ban political activities in their areas. This stupidity must stop!

If no one campaigns NDC will come again and it will be worse. There will be no medication, no houses, no food , transportations, dumsor will be worse. and patrol will keep on going up, killings will be all over in the country ...
