The reasoning of the Dep. Min. and her expectations make sense here. What is required is the discipline to carry out the proposal so that another debt mountain doesn't build up for the taxpayer.

We will not accept Ghana lending its name to a private business to make its money. Don't even try it and get us angry. You either establish the airline with our name and resources or stop it.

Kenya and Ethiopia airways are owned by foreign firms yet carry both names as if they were owned by their governments.A lot of money can be made by the governement for such branding depending on who negotiates the contracts.

More than 70% of the crew of the two airlines are citizens of the two countries. Have you seen airplane on the ground before? What the minister is saying is out of ignorance. How can you call a sole private company by the national name. Then KLM, BA , KQ, ET etc are already Ghana Airways. What is the difference between what the minister is saying and these airlines? They can as well draw Ghana flag on their bodies somewhere and call it Ghana Airways just like dead goat metro buses. Don't be fooled into believing the ignoramus talk of this so called minister. Ghana is broke and cannot own a share in an airline which is expensive. It is a political gimmick that will not fly.

It will be profitable for the management to be private and the government can receive royalties or whatever by lending its name. We should go that way than to allow Ghanaians to manage it then gnaw our teeth later.

I think it's a good idea to have an airline based out of Ghana. But if you don't have any shareholding, how can you call it a national airline? Why foot any of the bills( direct or indirect) to evaluate the feasibility of this? Time is money. Aren't there more valuable things our transport ministry could be evaluating than the possibility of tax breaks and incentives to companies the state has no ownership (or intends to have).

Encourage the private sector to participate, encourage the company to list a significant proportion of on the local stock Exhange from the get go, do something that really makes this owned by the people, then you get to call it National.
Otherwise, the private company doesn't really need your blessing to call the airline "Ghana" nframa, they are just looking for you to write some cheques!

How do you call an airline a national airliner when the state has no equity in it. Are the prepared to be sued for fraud or defrauding when the airline uses Ghana's name in a shady deal inappropriately?? SMH

Both the NEC andNPP are guilty of looting the Ghana Airways properties. That is why they can't set up a new airline. God will surely punish the greedy unpatriotic leaders. Nkrumah lives!
