  My dear Dr., you are demanding too much from our wayside journalist who are popular only because of the sensationalism of their products; their stories. I guess there is no conscience left for them to do research, especially when they are carted by tipper trucks as dispensable commodities to cover the 59th anniversary celebration based on a brochure with avalanche of errors. I guess the NDC should also do some research to produce better brochures.

  I totally agree with you on this one. I wonder why media houses in Ghana waste time on debates when the facts are even so glaring. Its sometimes annoying. One will accuse, the other will deny and so if journalists care about educating the public, they should do proper probing and stop all these childish games...at the end of the day, we want solutions to problems.

  We lack intelligent journalists who will probe and ask insightful question. They are lazy and unintelligent. The vast majority of them lack the kernel to even scratch the surface of anything. They are a reflection of our mediocre system.
  
  Seriously, just take a look at our journalistic landscape and dig into the background of our so-called "senior" journalist and you will understand why our journalists aren't helping our society that much.
  
  Kweku Baako (O'level dropout)
  
  Kwesi Pratt (dropout)
  
  Bature (O'level I head)
  
  Kwame Sefa Kanyi (Either O or A, Labone)
  
  Kweku Sekyi Addo (O'level, Achimota)
  
  Gifty Anti (O'level)
  
  The list goes on and on.
  
  All of the above listed journalists joined the trade because they failed to climb up the educational ladder. At least a first degree gives you a little backbone to do some serious research on some of these issues. Yes some of these people, Gifty for instance, did try to "polish up".
  
  All am saying is, our journalists are lazy, cozy with politicians, lack the needed knowledge and background to question or challenge anyone on complex issues like this debt saga.

  Some of them are comedians. They joke from morning to noon. Even reading of the news turns into singing . All they know is to deliberately call rowdy politicians from both divide to quarrel and insult each other to the extent of threatening the peace and security of the state. They skew to paint one political party evil, when they should be neutral . And they call themselves JOURNALISTS. Apuuuu !! Apart from Paul Adom Otchere and a few ladies at GTV, TV3 and GHone; all the rest are 'sankwaas'. Some don't even understand English let alone read documents from the Bank of Ghana. The journalists rather should be blamed for our woes for taking bribes and misinforming the public and creating unnecessary panic and tension. The village comedians faking as Akan newscasters should be sent back to the village tof farm
