  If local cement producers can produce more cement than is needed in the country then cement importation should be stopped altogether.To ensyre that prices of locally produced cement is affordable the Ministry of Trade must ensure that artificial shortages are not created by these companies to bring about abnormal price icreases.

  The price of cement is currently too high to support any claims of oversupply. Competition is healthy since it weeds out inefficient producers who wish to pass on their high production cost to consumers. The market mechanism should be left free to work in principle and in practice in line with our international obligations under WTO.

  Not long ago, Local Cement manufacturers created artificial shortages to shoot up prices abnormaly . It's obvious they are missing those times. The MoTI should concentrate on Chicken, Rice and Tomato importation and leave those self seeking Manufactures whose sole aim is to pass their ineffeciency costs onto innocent consumers.

  sometimes i wonder how our leaders think. how do u allow dead tasteless chicken n rotten pig feet into the country but rather block cememt which is soo needed to change our primitive stone aged muddy houses to modern human homes?
  
  is the govt in favor of the cement manufacturers' profit against affordability of cement for builders ?
  i don't blame them, they get free bungalows and looted moneys to buy estate houses so they don't know how some of us go thru to get a three bed room houses .

  Nice talking Minister, the largest import comes from Dangote. Are you stopping Dangote from exporting to Ghana so in the future Ghana's export to Nigeria will be hurt ?

  Please populist talk doesn't solve our national problems.
  Explain your proposal to Kasapreko, Reruy Cables and other Ghanaian exporters and maybe they will try to talk some sense in you.
