The government since day has stated that, it owes none of the teacher unions anything in form of salaries, but allowances.

This it has stated that is none of its (Government) faults but, it's purely an issue of lack of proper documentations.

And since the last friday that government met with this unions, efforts have been made to do an audit of all the necessary documents and I believe by the close of day, both government and the teacher unions shall come to the end of the matter, and no one shall go on strike.

I am not sure which advisory role she is playing but any role in the absence of more intelligent, competent, learned, more qualified people to give this government an advice has led to the deteriorating condition in Ghana and the nation going backward since Mahama and NDC took over the reigns of government in Ghana. Please do yourself and the reading public a lot of good by being fair and just to the poor Tr's. who made you what you are today or what you chose to be. I'll encourage you to become a Tr. if you're jobless and experience the heat, the frustration, the stigma and all the negative things Trs go through only to be lambasted and castigated by short-minded pole like you. Mind you, a reaction is the end result of a stimulus. consider how much govt officials spend in a day, consider the the allowances of the nurses and the police just to mention a few before you dare talk of Tr's salary.
If you may know, poor performance of students can't be blamed on the TR. Why ? Because:
1.the Tr's work is only 30% or 40% respectively
2.parents have a role to play which many of them shirk
3.the students do 60% or 70% of the work
4.government policies are rather crippling education
5.the society has a role
Look! I am a tr today not because the trs who taught me were more intelligent but I took it upon myself since my destiny is in my own hands.
What do you say about those excell in exams? Is it not the same Tr's who taught them too?

The government I believe shall stand tall to meet the needs of our teachers today and I trust the impending strike shall not come to past.

The government has made it clear that, it owes the teacher unions no salary but minor allowances which are as a result documentation challenges and through the dialogue process with the disgruntled groups over the week, an audit committee as being set to fast tract the challenges that have risen due to this documentation irregularities.

I believe by the close of day, all the parties involved shall arrive at a mutual bargain.

Even then I have always thought, the teacher problem was only a Ghanaiana problem, until i chanced on this letter written by a teacher to President Obama of the United States:

Dear President Obama,
Everyday, I get about 4–5 hours of sleep. My day starts at 4:45 am when I wake up to read my Bible for a few moments. Then, I make lunch for my 9 year old with Autism. I set the clothes out for my other 9 year old with Down Syndrome. As Black boys in America with special needs, the outcomes say they have a slim to none chance to graduate high school, a good chance of being imprisoned, and a great chance of having a very poor, perhaps homeless, adult quality of life. I don’t focus on it, but it remains the fact for most.
After I finish packing lunches, I sneak into our room (we share a 10x11 room in my grandmothers house) and grab my clothes. I pull my tired little guy from a bed on the floor and dress him in his sleep. I help him to the car, we back out at 5:55 am. I then drive 1 hour to drop him off at a Charter school that serves kids with Autism. I moved to Tampa, Florida for this school. There are so few quality choices for parents with kids with Autism that are the working poor. I am an American public school teacher. I teach 5th grade at a high poverty, nearly all Black, elementary school in Tampa. I work 12–14 hour days and bring work home. My income last week was $1,330.00 for 2 weeks. I hold 2 MAs and have been an award winning urban public education for 17 years. I cannot afford an apartment, let alone a house. I live check to check. People who sell guns make more money.
Teachers in the most challenging schools have very little resources. Last month I had a choice to make, overdraft my bank account or buy supplies for my students. I chose my students, and we ate less at home.
You said we are the most powerful nation in the world. That being true, the state of Education for MOST Americans is unacceptable. Loosing kids to gun violence is horrific, and so is allowing millions of American kids to go from our schools to our prisons. The stratification is growing, rapidly.
We need change for our teachers. Young people don’t what to be teachers out of college. They know teachers are paid terribly, they know it’s a very hard and sometimes even dangerous career. They are turned off in droves to what should be the highest held profession in our nation.
I’d vote you in again if I could. It’s been an honor to be an American while you have been in office. Before you go, please do all you can to improve the state of affairs for American teachers.

The fact is your administration is noted for cost augmentation, especially on construction projects. Therefore, there is no beef if questions are being raised on projects undertaken by your administration

I can see a proxy for opposition campaigning in an election year. So paying them their allowances will simply displace the agitation to something else. If the NDC is really listening, and I am sure they are, these strikes are a signal that Ghanaians are not happy about their performance . whether a perception or reality, it is not good news either way.

President Mahama must move quickly to reassure Ghanaians in sound bites and in action. Sound bites alone will not do.
Fixing dumsor has put a break on the downward spiral but the NDC is no where near where it started from when Rawlings handed the baton to President Mills.
On the part of Akuffo Addo, he needs to be mindful of behaviours hat are counter to the average Ghanaian values. It is not cool uto be short and bald in Ghana. He really should not be wearing anything short of high heeled shoes. He needs to dress to exaggerate his height and stop the clean shaves that tend to make him look even smaller.

Demand the sacking of Okujeto Ablakwa who supervised the registration of those with the alleged fake certicates. He is being paid and upon that leading the stealing gang to ensure things are done properly. It is his fault those registrations took place, if even he did not engineer it to cause confusion. Demand the names and constituencies where those fake certificates came from: You will be surprised the areas; may be the world bank, tongu etc.
