Stop the joke. some of those releasing the so-called statement were not even born in 1966. Nkrumah was controversial and none of his economic policies would have seen the light of today. I am no fan of any stupid coup but at the same time, one must not make it look like Kwame Nkrumah had some magic wand to solve Ghana's problems. In fact, he created more than he solved.

You are being very ungrateful. Don't try to forget the numerous 2nd cycle institutions that sprang up in the country. Most of our present learned folk might have not gone to school without the effort of Nkrumah. The bulk of our intelligentsia is a vivid result of Nkrumah's work. It is the coup makers who brought the country to its knees and we need to condemn that stupid thing of February 1966 and the foolish-brain behind it. This is why we must be careful with those who still support that coup. It was a selfish act that destroyed the nation. I will ever say; those who planned that coup deserve a nation's strongest punishment.

Jerry John Rawlings is the longest reigning Head of State of Ghana and not President Nkrumah. These critics of President Nkrumah keep on accusing him of trying to make Ghana a one party state and comment on the abuse of human rights that existed under the CPP. Where were these critics when the PNDC Government were in power? How many years did the PNDC rule and were there no abuses of human rights, politicians detained in prison and lack of press freedom?
After ruling as a military dictator for how many years then Rawlings simply removed the P from PNDC and formed a new political party called NDC and ruled for another 8 years.
From 1981-2016, we have been governed by PNDC or NDC for all but 8 years. If this is not a one party State then someone explain the meaning to me.
The same critics of President Nkrumah are the same people who post comments on a daily basis accusing the Chair of the E.C. of being in bed with the NDC to ensure they remain in power.
Ghana is a one party state in all but name.
