Why not? Because past experience confirms that all projects undertaken by your administration has come out with bloated estimated cost.
President incompetent –in-chief, may I remind you that even the cost of branding inter-cities buses with your pictures was so over quantified that your sector minister has to resign on this issue. Again, have too soon forgotten the bloated cost of construction Kumasi Airport runway?
The fact is your administration is noted for cost augmentation, especially on construction projects. Therefore, there is no beef if questions are being raised on projects undertaken by your administration

Shutting down Korle Bu is a sign of hopelessness. It means we have no options and have lost hope. NO. We can engage effective managers and run it like a quasi business with a huge social burden. Why shut down for people to die just because we have a Senior Manegement Group that has resisted and fought and changed about 5 CEOs? If a man marries and divorces 5 women concurrently and claims all the women he ever married and divorced are evil but he is the greatest man ever, why should you believe him?
Let's give Korle Bu to better managers and see if all these nonsense will not end. We run down Ghana Telecom till Vodaphone came and made it a multi million dolla profit business. And the list goes on and on. I think we can't shut down for any more lives to be lost. Let's take a bold decision by engaging better managers with great EXPERIENCE AND TRACK RECORDMIN HANDLING SIMILAR CHALLENGES for these union guys to be made to learn best practices from a genuine team and see the miracle that will happen. KORLE BU NEEDS BETTER MANAGERS. THE CEOS MAY BE GOOD BUT THE FIGHT AGAINST THE CORRUPT SENIOR STAFF IS A FIGHT NO SINGLE CEO CAN FIGHT. THE SENIOR STAFF CANNOT ALWAYS HAVE THEIR WAY. IT IS TIME TO THINK ABOUT THE MANY LIVES BEING LOST. IT IS TIME TO TAKE THOUGH DECISIONS AND CLOSING DOWN IS THE WEAKEST DECISION. IT IS NOT AN OPTION.

My solution is simple; privatise the hospital. Crazy? Trust me, that shit will be managed better if privatised.
There must be a way out but so long as the hospital is under government's management, the problem will not go away.

On my recent visit to Korley Bu Teaching hospital I had discussions with a couple of staff about the deplorable conditions within the institution. To put it straight hospital is like a "rubbish dump". Gutters were filled with sand, weed and water, the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes. People sleeping on the grounds in walkways. How could this be?
How does the hospital pass accreditation year after year with that filth? It is time the authorities in Ghana wake up and do something that will benefit everyone in the country and stop blaming the NPP or NDC because the status quo is a revolving door.

The NHIS owes korle bu Ghana 8million. (According to the CEO ).How is it possible to deliver care with this level on non payment. It's possible because of the sacrifices of doctors, nurses, orderlies etc.Their sacrifices in the midst of these atrocious conditions is what keeps saving lives. The managers come and collect huge allowances and want to keep the system the way it is to please their political masters who appointment them. The problem with korle bu is not the staff but the managers. Prof Aheto. Please research before speaking.Academics in Ghana are too lazy.
Highly experienced Doctors are waiting for the opening of the University of Ghana Medical Center this year. They plan to leave with their skills and knowledge to this new facility. Korle bu can then function as a polyclinic.

I agree something different must be done to investigate. surely a lot of research institutions depend on Korle Bu, Medical School Noguchi etc. Generaly the place works well it needs injection of transformational leadership and moving all the relevant stakeholders along. In Ghana System can work. I believe people who are talking now are benchmarking better systems from elsewhere. That does not mean we must shutdown the Korle Bu. When senior citizen like Prof Aheto speak we must listen take a cue or read between the line and do something different, Thanks Prof for your candid view.

Korle bu's situation is more of the work of an established mafia and a cartel whose continue wish is to maintain the status quo to continue milking the institution dry and so we need to break into this criminal wall and exposed the mafia gang in there...we need Anas to infiltrate into this criminal ring and totally root out the entire rot at korle bu .... why, it cant always happen that the staff are always right and management CEO's always wrong...never except if there is strong agenda or motive by these criminal staff to make korle bu their personal cash cow to profit and loot the institution clean n dry....

The staff are leaving in droves. Ask Alex Segbefia what he saw at korle bu. The only people enjoying korle bu are the management and board members.
This country is not worth dying for.
