After 19 years of rule, he hopelessly left the seat with the national coffers empty. Never accounted for acc#48 but calls others corrupt. In his time having two toilets in a house was a crime but today in his Adjiringanor house, each room has toilet and bath. He called others for taking the equivalent of Ghc 5,000 loan but claims today unknown and unseen people paid his kids tuition abroad. He used helicopter to collect the gold from Obuasi and sent it to Switzerland where he was duped. What goes around comes around. To cut off my anger, I dare ask, where did investigators find the keys to the truck used in killing the four High Court Judges and Retired army officer? Regardless insistence and advice from his pals like Gadhafi against he going for democracy, this man stood his grounds and allow the peoples will to stand. Obviously, he is arguably the father of the democratic we enjoy as a nation today.

But for his willingness to hand over power, which us here could have be talking about peace by now.

And but for peace, where could Kufour have had the chance to implement the policies or interventions Joe Lartey is making reference to now.

If you really want to appreciate Rawlings the way he ought to be appreciated, then I have a piece of Advice, let us toil with the peace we enjoy as a nation today. it is only then you would see excuse my language though, how seemingly useless the so called policies shall become.

If we truly want to be fair, they all played their parts when the need be, but as to who has done better than the other, I think it would make enough sense to praised the one who continued the building without first appreciating the foundation laying.

Peace to me is supreme. Without peace, there is no development. Rawlings allowed the kufour administration to take over peaceful and that gave kufour the room to undergo whatever his mission for the country were, but these in no way place him above Rawlings.

Kufuor handed over peacefully to Attah Mills but what do we see today? Destruction of the said foundation and the main structures. Rawlings was overwhelmed by vindictiveness against a group of people he perceived as enemies and perverts instead of wooing them to be partners. He then went on rampage to destroy all they had graciously acquired in a life time of sacrifice and hard work. That was his Acquilis tendon and its the main cause of the divisions in Ghana. Rawlings is a beast.

This was a man, who then was friend to one of the greatest dictators Africa could ever have, Gadhafi as his advisor and mind you, Gadhafi could as well sponsor this man any time anywhere to clinch on to power.

Please this man obviously had many choices to have decided from. But as peace loving as he was. He let go of all.

What Kufuor did was just a build on the foundation already set up by the erstwhile Rawlings administration.

But for the brutalities that you have or are alluding to, I think are very much typical of any military regime. You do a retrospection all military regimes the nation has ever witnessed and tell me which did come with any brutality. There is none. so you do not create the situation to seem that, Rawlings was and had been the only person to have brutally dealt with his identified opposition.

But at the end of the day, he left us with something valuable, peace. This obviously was solidified on the existing constitution then.

Look at Cash and Carry system where pregnant women who gave birth in hospitals were detained because they did not have money to pay. The cedi was destroyed(1 dollar = 7000 cedis). Nigerians were always laughing at Ghanaians because of our cedi. Kuffuor restored it plus LEAP and many other programmes. Rawlings made Ghana HIPC but they kept quiet until Kuffuor came to save us. Rawlings saw that Kuffuor did better than he did so he tried to disgrace him. That's why when Kuffuor left office, JJ was going round saying bad things about him.

Just to educate you about how things are done in Ghana all the social interventions in the country go through experimental stages before any implimentation can be done.

Can you tell me when Kufur did the piloting for national health insurance?

I'm 55 years old but my school was part of the experimental schools selected for the SHS and the JHS in the mid 80s when Rawlings was not in power but today if I ask you who brought SHS for sure you will tell me its Rawlings.

Off course the cash and carry was introduced by JJ but he was the same person who master minded the NIHS concept after people started complaining.

I don't blame them, I blamed Rawlings and his followers who have sat down and allowed his enemies to turn all the facts upside down and fed the youth with these lies. The Accra we all see today was transformed by Rawlings. Can somebody tell me where the Central Mosque was and how the city centre looked like especially Fridays. 80% of roads you see in Accra were done by Rawlings. Can somebody tell me one single good road in Kumasi during the 70s? What was the nature of Kumasi roads by the time Rawlings left office. Anyway did anyone remember the opposition telling Ghanaians that they are not going to eat roads. Rawlings provided the basics by sending water and electricity to almost all the towns and villages in the country, built schools, district and regional hospitals, Dansoman housing estate, Adenta and Sakumono as well. He created the Upper West Region opened up the whole north for development and gave them a public university with some contribution from his own pocket. The Airport City we see today was started by Rawlings. Kuffour would have sold that land to himself very cheap. What's the point asking Ghanaians to go to hospital for free paracetamol if the cost of travel to the hospital is far in excess of the cost of medicines you are given. Again what's the point telling kids you can have one meal a day at school when there are no schools to go to. There are too many so called big men in the NDC who are just hypocrites. They are afraid to come out openly to defend their leaders and are only interested in the benefits they and their families can get.

KB Asante also gives high marks for Kutu Acheampong. He left projects upon projects, country was unified, he left NO debts. At the later part of his rule, he suggested Unigov and that was his undoing. The economy had then worsened after years of sanctions from the West. People left to other countries like Nigeria. We shot him! Now we talk against winner takes it all. So we want National or Union Government. We are in debt up to our eyes, no industries to talk of..... Acheampong all the way !!!!!!!

In just 8 years Kuffuor and the NPP did better than the NDC in its combined 27 years in power. Rawlings ruined the economy, forcing Ghana to become a HIPC before leaving power. Kufuor took up the HIPC economy and transformed it into the world's fastest growing middle income economy. Then came the NDC's Mills-Mahama team. They inherited this fast growing economy only to turn it into the world's fastest collapsing economy. Any time the NDC comes to power it collapses the economy and inflict unprecedented hardship on Ghanaians. The NDC's 27 years in power is indeed nothing compared to the NPP's 8 years in power !!!
