Ghana is paying six times its total oil revenue as interest on the country’s total public debt stock; that’s the computation done by former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“We’ll reach GHC99billion by the end of this year 2015,” the Running Mate to the Flagbearer of the biggest opposition Party said in a post-budget presentation interview with Richard Sky of Citi FM.

“The interest on this debt alone is going to be six times Ghana’s oil revenue,” Dr Bawumia said.

“When we found oil, we were happy that we found oil, but the borrowing of this Government has compromised the whole oil discovery; you need six times our oil revenue just to pay interest on the debt, not even capital, so, it is a really sad development,” he complained.

They are only interested in prestigious signature projects for enjoyment of few ruling elites regardless of whether the inflated projects are priorities and value for money or not. I wonder how they could account for the $37 billion they've borrowed so far to land this country in HIPIC again. Did the insensitive NDC government think, despite the massive corruption, they could borrow recklessly and spend their way foolishly into another mandate in 2016, even if the nation is over burdened with HIPC and workers wallow in hunger and over taxed?

And guess wat they used d money for "A 2009 audit report revealed that up to 60 billion Cedis of the tax payer's money taken from the TOR debt recovery levy, the HIPC etc. was used to fund a so called communication strategy which was only a euphemism for a conduit used to siphon state funds into the NPP campaign.

The auditors could not find details of this strategy or how it was executed, except dubious payments to amorphous groups such as BLOW, PRIM, and FIRST RESPONDERS.This was published 2011-12

The kasoa interchange project is equally important just as the numerous projects being undertaken by the caring president in the area of health (modern facilities and upgrading), education (life to SHS and Millennium City school to end the shift system), energy (karpower barge, Ameri Power plant to end dumsor) and several road projects among others. This Kasoa interchange project will bring a great relief to Ghanaians especially those who normally ply that route as well as ease traffic on the stretch of the road. in effect u wont get stacked in traffic. President Mahama is also not just fighting corruption but also eliminating it with the implementation of National Anti-Corruption Action Plan. Public sector workers salaries are being increased by 10 percent across board and utility tariffs reduced drastically by government. What a caring gentleman we have as a president.

With respect to Health; The 420-bed Ridge Hospital Expansion Project, in Accra is still ongoing likewise work on the 295-bed Bolgatanga Regional Hospital is progressing steadily.
Also the National Medical Outreach Programme which involves the deployment of mobile medical vans to provide various medical services to under-served communities is still on-going.
The President is giving priority to every sector of the economy. An indication that our monies are been put to good use all in the bid to ensure equitable distribution of resources in the country

In West Africa its only Nigeria that pays less bcos they have been OPEC members for long and gat vast fuel.Sachet water is still 20p. The gov't can do well by organizing a lot (not just handful) of these young engineers, architects, tradesmen to work alongside these foreign companies just to learn how to build such projects for future purposes. So long as you depend on foreign exparts to build projects like this, it's going to cost you more than usual. The comfort of the expatriates in a third world country is even factored in the cost. Companies will always employ less to maximize their profits but gov't can encourage people to volunteer their time to get hands-on training and offer them some allowances.

NDC is a socialist party and is committed to making this country a better place for all of us. NDC promised in its manifesto to fixed the power crisis and he is actually doing that through the Karpower barge, Ameri Power plant among others which is adding additional megawatts to the national grid consequently the stable power supply we are enjoying currently. Mahama promised to built 200 community day school and he is implementing it. He would even commissioned one of such school projects in the Eastern Region today. he promised to construct roads and he is doing just that. the ongoing cocoa road rehabilitation project is also The kasoa interchange aside the Kwame Nkrumah one is just one of the numerous things he is doing to transform Ghana. Projects, Job opportunities and social interventions are components of transformation that every country can ever boast of. Residents of Kasoa and all those who ply that route would heave a great sigh of relief when the interchange is completed as traffic which is usually on the stretch will be eased. President Mahama will not die but live to fulfill his purpose (ChangingLives, TransformingGhana) on this planet.

The only thing which is a treat, and would continue to be a threat to achieving this aim is the issue of people lazing about, and blaming others for their difficulties.

The government certainly would play its part in whichever way possible, but until you realize your side of the bargain, you would still be where you are.

The President has made it clear to the nation that, his leadership is bent on investing in long term projects. And what this means is that, we would have to cushion ourselves as a people to bear our sides of the little heat we get to feel for this brief period; so in the long term, even generations after us shall equally benefit. This is what is called sustainable development.

It is evident the amount of money and time this government has channeled into infrastructure development in all spheres of our economy; and who stands to benefit from them? It us the citizenry.

Complaints wouldn't help us, instead, it would only divert our attentions from playing our individual parts which are very instrumental to the development of our country and nation.

Let us wake up and do the right thing. This is our surest way to meeting the breakthrough we long have cried for.

God bless Mother Ghana.

So you believe is not based on your own findings, but what someone is telling you. it is rather unfortunate.

The NDC government is the only government in history that has even gone beyond the usual by prosecuting even persons of his party claims of corruption leveled against them.

The development project in all regions are remarkable but there is corruption which sometimes lets the side down. If the financing of these projects were from internal sources that would have been a plus but in a situation where even the interest of the loans has become a major burden you can't make this a campaign message and the projects are very costly too which there's a suspicion of the costs being inflated.

NDC promised in its manifesto to fixed the power crisis and he is actually doing that through the Karpower barge, Ameri Power plant among others which is adding additional megawatts to the national grid consequently the stable power supply we are enjoying currently. Mahama promised to built 200 community day school and he is implementing it. He would even commissioned one of such school projects in the Eastern Region today. he promised to construct roads and he is doing just that. the ongoing cocoa road rehabilitation project is also another clear example not to talk of the Kwame Nkrumah interchange project. it will be in our interest if we re-elect JDM to continue the good work he is doing.

The interviewer calls in the mathematician and asks "What do two plus two equal?" The mathematician replies "Four." The interviewer asks "Four, exactly?" The mathematician looks at the interviewer incredulously and says "Yes, four, exactly."

Then the interviewer calls in the accountant and asks the same question "What do two plus two equal?" The accountant says "On average, four - give or take ten percent, but on average, four."

Airport runway in Kumasi costed Ghana $24million. One does not have to be an engineer to know that a project has been over priced. There are so many projects that have been over priced. Why so many sole sourcing of projects if not with evil intensions?

On top they shared the adjoining land to comstruct a shopping mall. On the balance of things, NDC is doing better with flyovers. See the Sankara flyover by JJ. Less land, but very efficient, no traffic jam unlike Tetteh Quarshie.

The other day he was saying unless one has been a president,such person can't criticise him.Now people ought to be involve before knowing the cost of a project how stupid from a man supposed to be leader of a country to make such claims.
He and his entire team in government ought to realise that the massive debt they're Pilling on the country as a result of their reckless spending,borowwing through foreign loans increase the burden of the already struggling and suffering Ghanaian.
He and his government must stop playing on the intelligence of the Ghanaians for their failures,deceits and imcompetencies are clear and visible no matter tyeir denials, attacks and insults on all who raise such an issue of national interest and concern.
How come that until recently there was no mention of the so called projects and developments?It's because of pressure being mounted from the opposition and other meaningful Ghanaians.
After seven plus years in government most Ghanaian families find it hard to even have something to eat and you decern on people for raising awareness of our woes and sufferings? How dare you?
