Osei, with respect to the article, President Mahama indicated that the Prisons Service was considered in view of the urgent need to address its mobility deficiency that had led to situations where prisoners were conveyed in commercial vehicles.
The president also explained this is the first phase of the allocations, adding that the second phase would benefit other security agencies, including the Ghana Armed Forces, among others.

What is the imprtance of President sharing Cars to Organisations at this point in time when our Economy is in Shambles? Mahama is really a Joker.Every year all Ministries and Agencies under Governments budget for their needs including Vehicles which go to them directly. Recently we saw about 300 Pick Up ordered by the Ministry. Why did the President not present those Vehicles to them if that is part of his Job Description? Because we are in Election year he has now suddenly become Vehicle Distributer to deceive people that he is working Shame Shame Shaaaame.

This practice of the president making presentations of items to governmental agencies should be discontinued. You only find this sort of practice in third world countries where this sort of practice continues the Big Man syndrome. Can't these agencies acquire those vehicles under their budget? Why does it take the president to do this. Funds for these purchases neither come from the president's personal accounts nor his office.

Some of these gestures needs to be carried out by the president to demonstrate that he is fulfilling his promise of equipping the security services. Otherwise the opposition NPP would jump on radios and accuse him of "empty promises". Any ruling party worth its sort must blow its horn. Even if the cars were to be purchased by normal budgetary allocations, the Govt in power can still claim credit, because it made it possible.

Well done, Mr. President, but quickly a few observations:
1) If the funds used to buy these vehicles and motorbikes were NOT BORROWED (with interest), but with locally generated funds, then I say HURRAY!!
2) Why wasn't the Police Service, which provides daily and nightly services, protecting people and property NOT included in the first phase of recipients? See, a second phase may take YEARS to come and worse, NEVER!!
3) Would there be strict assurances that these vehicles & motorbikes wouldn't be high-jacked or stolen or taken by some unscrupulous individuals as their own properties, when the NDC is no longer in office or at any other given time?
4) Lastly, wouldn’t these vehicles be used by the NDC for the 2-016 political campaign—at the expense of the other competing parties?
