What is all about the noise as if it is the end of the world. There are more Ghanaians living and working outside Ghana and we are treated with respect and what prevents Ghana from given these strangers the freedom they deserved. There is nothing religious about our behavior towards these guys. We need to show them love and respect. The late Nelson Mandela would have done the same for them and nothing prevent us from doing that to them. We have laws,police and the army to protect the people and so far they have not broken the law so why noise from the pseudo religious leaders?

Ghana by accepting them taking part in the humanitarian movement, which is good itself (I hope you wont argue about it), and showing Ghana from good side as well. Whenever they find or detect any criminal activity in any Ghanaian, they deport them or charge them and imprison them and afterwards, deport them. Now the principle is what people are concerned about. Will America take 2 criminals from Ghana and make them sober to live in their free society. If they will not do that, then what is in it for our leaders to do that to Ghana and other countries. I think the whole situation is that our leaders are not being truthful in this matter and it hurts. And that right there is the reason why Ghanaians are kicking against the "hosting" of the two because if we are to go by Gbevlo's assertions, it may seem the two are in some "abridged form of Gitmo bay" in this country, when that should not be the case, if they were truly free and had been cleared of any terrorist inclinations.
If we are being told their continued hold at Gitmo was serving as a platform for radicalizing and recruiting extremists to attack interests of the US on their soil and whereever they may be, by vitrue of the fact that, they had been held against their wish and were not terrorists, then Ghana offering to host them in the conditions so described by Gbevlo in Ghana, logically, should serve the same purposes as pertains to them being held in Gitmo.
That is the basis of the argument IMO and that burden should have been discharged prudently by John Mahama by engaging all major stakeholders, traditional authorities, the religious bodies, parliament although they have a majority, and all who matter, to satisfy every concern and most importantly whether it was consistent with the laws of this country and in a transparent and honest manner.
They could pose no threat and could be harmless themselves, and that is a giving, but the mere fact they could attract radicalized elements by virtue of their situation as described, is worrisome and problematic and thus, the reason for the pushback, which is legitimate by the way, the fear of the unknown.
There should be a way to assuage those fears, and it begins by tamping down the rhetoric from the likes of the Spokesman of the Chief Iman for one, and who seems to be carried away by emotionalism as opposed to matured conduct.

What I want to know is was the AG and Minister of Justice involved in the discussion prior to admitting these two into the country? If yes, what advise did she give the President to help him arrive at this bad decision?

For a country like the US to arrest suspected terrorists and keep them for 14 yrs before releasing them means they are terrorists and must NOT be allowed into the country. The US has one of the best intelligence agencies and it will not take them 14 yrs to determine someone is innocent. Is someone saying they are not guilty that is why they have released them after 14 yrs? That person must think again.

Already, we are worried about two Ghanaians from the universities who have gone to join the ISIS. It is laughable in that we have now brought in the gurus to establish their bases and cells here.

Now Col Gbevlo has joined the debate. It is my prayer that truly, there will be no backlash.
