WHAT THE HECK IS THIS SPRAYING AND RE-BRANDING OF METRO BUSES ABOUT? The NDC(Notorious Demented Criminals) 2016 campaign propaganda team diabolically cooked up this idea of using 116 public buses as cheap mobile billboards for Mahama's pictures. What is the significance of this so called branding of buses? It is about no buses but Mahama!!! These shameless morons are taking us - Ghanaians for a ride. They are stealing and using our tax money to fund their campaign with impunity. It is time for us to tell them, enough is enough. They spaces could profitably be rented to some commercial entities to earn revenue for the Metro Transit Administration. This is what is done in all civilized countries. All the pictures should be removed immediately from the buses befor the government is forced to do so in court.

The salaries of some teachers, nurses and some junior doctors are in several month areas and for fear that these recruits will suffer the same fate if absorb into the government payroll, which is bloated with ghost names of unidentified Ndc serial callers, the loot and share incompetent liars were left with no option than to order the army to unconditionally separate our would-be gallant young men in uniform from their camps. Meanwhile Mahama, his wife and brother,Ibrahim, are busily given free cars to chiefs, student girls and foot soldiers for election 2016 campaign.

The Military High Command's action is in all respects a recipe for Security and Economic disaster.
SECURITY : These are unemployed half-trained disappointed youth. Now their hopes are shuttered with no alternatives. They know how to handle arms albeit without discipline. It's said "half education is MADNESS hence they're proned to devise alternative means of survival. Resorting to armed robbery isn't far fetched.
ECONOMIC : The cost of military training is undisclosed but known to be very expensive. Will the Military High Command let the tax payer know how much economic losses were incurred?
Couldn't this have been handled with military discipline, tact, and considerations on SECURITY AND ECONOMIC LOSS?
God help us. 501 potential armed robbers have been unleashed to the streets.

i was in the military before,and an instructor.due to the family members and relative who helping their people into the military is now making the military a disrespectful institution. and is good for them to be dismissed. it is for our own good in Ghana. The punishment for MUTINY is DEATH BY FIRING SQUAD.So those who are thinking of joining in d future should think again. every recruit who passes thru a military training school whether ARMY,Navy, or Air Force went thru d same training these recruits are complainig about. the fact of the matter is that most of those recruits are relations of serving personnel, politicians,MPS and people in high places and other Security services so they (recruits)thought they should be treated with kid gloves. Finally, the Protocol business must STOP. before dis incident some years back some recruits could not even write their names nor write the name of the region they came from.Otherwise we wud end up as a country recruiting future REBELS.

Ghanaians especially the youth are becoming too indisciplined. How can a recruit refuse to take orders, especially on things that harbor on training? If they are showing such tendencies now, only God knows what they will do when they are finally absorbed into the military force.

They are now free and they can take their lawlessness to join Boko Haram or ISIS, as long as they do not do any harm to our peaceful country.

Definitely, not all the 501 recruits were insubordinate. The military chiefs could have investigated thoroughly and dismiss the 'real' trouble causers. These half-baked recruits how might have by now been introduced to 'firing' of arms and other military tactics can become susceptible to some 'trouble causers' to be easily used to unleash 'terror' on unsuspecting and law abiding citizens. Some of them could resort to 'arm robbery' and other forms of 'terror'. It is not sufficient taking their figure prints and letting them off into the public. The army need to 'follow' them and keep an eye on them for the country's safety and security. These are my humble thoughts. I hope others agree with me. Happy New Year to you all!

News about Dzifa Attivors thievery has gone international. Read about how the international media reported it and the global comments that followed.

Accra (AFP) - Ghana's transport minister resigned Wednesday after a controversy erupted following reports she spent about one million dollars to repaint over 100 buses with portraits of the country's recent leaders.

Dzifa Attivor had commissioned a private firm to respray 116 imported passenger busses with the faces of the West African country's past leaders and current president John Mahama.

But the seemingly innocuous branding exercise became a rallying point for the opposition party and anti-corruption campaigners, who used the issue to criticise the ruling party's economic management of the country.

Attivor's resignation is the first in many years for Ghana and comes after citizens filed a court action against the government demanding details of the bus contract.

The contract "did not ensure value for money," said Ghana's government after reviewing the bus painting deal and called for a reimbursement of some of the money.

Ghana's economic growth has stalled in the face of tanking commodity prices, with the ruling party coming under fire for wasteful spending in the run up to presidential and parliamentary elections next year.

Earlier this week, President Mahama banned first class travel for public officials, warning them to avoid "unwarranted" trips.

The country was forced to look to the IMF for emergency loans to help bolster its ailing economy, struggling to change its fortunes amid a power crisis.

As part of the agreement with the IMF, Ghana's authorities pledged to rein in spending.

Corruption in Ghana and Africa is part of life and understood by many Ghanaians and Africans as normal. This is tip of the iceberg, if you have to dig through people in government civil servants and law enforcement agencies, you might have to put all of them in jail. I remember I was in Ghana in 2009 driving unlicensed car in the night, I was able to bribe my way out with three can tunas after I was pull over by the Police. Yes also if only those who were engaged in this mutiny were dismissed leaving the rest,they would be outside the system and still have much influence even more dangerous to the state.The army has acted well and very well so that it would be a precedent for subsequent recruits. Also there is the need to properly check the enlistment process so that people like Allotey who probably was not physically fit for military training might not be able to be recruited, even he has stayed so long in the camp that too should not be torrelated.

A lot of people think, that is all the military training that one needs to complete in order to wear the uniform and parade with the various sofisticated arms!There is more to it , in order to become a member of the Ghana Armed Forces, bearing in mind that the GAF is one of the well-trained Armies in the world despite their limited access to the most modern Armoury in existance! Such stupid and insurbonitate attitude can and should not be tolerated whatsoever in the GAF!! The 501 recruits deserve the sack, even they were lucky ,the full force of military law was not applied here!!!

not all of us did join. I'm very worried not to serve my country but one must consider the tutorials we had on arms and their usage. a severe treat to the nation which I can't trust some of my sacked collegues

Dear Adams, I'm sure when you started training you and your fellow trainees were taken through the code of conduct. I also believe that at that time you were all too excited to actually let the details sink in. That notwithstanding, even in the civil streets, when you observe something bad happening in your surroundings, you are supposed to report it. It is even more serious in the military; for instance, if you have knowledge of a coup plot and you don't report it, when the plotters are caught, you might also be arrested for not reporting what you knew. This is to put things simply. So let this be a hard lesson well learnt.
Your life won,t end with this. As for your colleagues who you think may cause problems with tutorials on the weapons, let them decide to be criminals and the security agencies would be ready for them. Goodluck!

Mutiny in war time or an AWOL - the least punishment would have been death by firing squad. Those days have gone replaced by fufuo soldiers protected by human rights laws.

You Recruit indiscipline,lazy- backbitters,people who are easily convinced to "Betray Christ for 30 pieces of Silver"etc, if recruitment is done through "whom you know", "Connections", instead of openend to the public.If it's the truth that Recruitment Form was Sold for 200 Cedis each,why should the Executive arm of govt,the Ministry of Defence or Interior, don't have to explain to the good people of Ghana,in my personal opinion the reasons the Nation Cannot absorbed Such an important Security expense.In the same manner,those employed as above to Institutions, reduced productivity,etc. And Politicians or leadership who Buy Votes in any form(hands out etc) to Convince people to get their Votes, are the most Corrupted if he wins power. Don't forget that his Corruption Started when your Vote was bought. So you have no reason to Complain.
Therefore,don't Sell your Conscience.
Research to ascertain the truth from Credible Source(ministry of defence or information)if Recruitment Form into the GAF is for Sale.If it is; why?.

The army recruitment procedure should be overhauled. Why should the recruitment be based on one's connection with the people at the top?
No wonder there are more Ewes in the army than the other tribes. This was the anomaly that Col. Damoah wanted to correct during Kuffour's administration but was misunderstood and was sacked. How can Ewes in the army be 17% to 27% but being one of the smallest tribes in the country? Recruits should be selected fairly and proportionally from all the regions and not based on one's connections. No tribe should be made deliberately to dorminate the army. The danger of nepotism is what is happening now in the army training camp.

this is a good step taking by the higher authority of the GAF. the training school is not a boarding house and many people have gone through same training, it will serve as a lesson to the future recruits.

TIGER EYE, ANAS will never do what u people has done. u always take ur news from a source. why don't u go to de army headquarters for information if u call urselves as professional journalists. dont u kn u r not to interfere in military cases until de military itself gives a result. u use every platform for politics. we de recruits were told to go home for an investigation to be completed but u de media has already judged us yyy. remember mother Ghana ll suffer tommorrow if we r sacked because not all of us can afford to go to school or get a job. and man must eat by all means. be ready to face that. media men u r our targets if u really achieved ur aim, dats for us to be sacked. but still we de recruits has hope dat we shall be called for we know what happened dat day demands no sacked but if we r to be sacked then be ready gh. recruit.......charley coy
