There is nothing one will receive from a state institution free of charge. So what is the turn around for the Chinese state apart from buying the conscious of Ms. Teteh and the nation?

There are a lot wrong doing in these deals and Ghanaians must learn to avoid such deal. Beggars has not choice. How can we gain respect from foreigners? Shameful leaders supported by certain illiterates.

She explained that prior to her birthday, she had discussed with the Ambassador how access to education in her constituency has been a challenge, especially when it comes to felicities.

Ms. Tetteh said she sought from the ambassador whether China could help in improving infrastructure in the constituency with grant funding, and that during the week of her birthday, the ambassador informed her that China could help in that regard.

The NDC(Notorious Demented Criminals) 2016 campaign team diabolically cooked up this idea of using 116 public buses as cheap mobile billboards for Mahama's pictures. What is the significance of this so called branding? Who is being BRANDED here? It is nobody but Mahama!! These morons have no shame and they are taking us - Ghanaians for a ride. They are stealing and using our tax money to fund their campaign. If you look at where Mahama's picture is placed on the buses you will understand what I am talking about. The spaces could have profitably been rented to some commercial entities to earn revenue for the Metro Transit Administration. All the pictures should be removed immediately from the buses before the government is forced to do so in court.

There is nothing one will receive from a state institution like that of China free of charge. So where lies the win-win-situation for the Chinese state apart from buying the conscious of Ms. Teteh and the nation?

There are a lot of wrong doings going on in this government which negative affection on Ghanaians will appear years later. Ghanaians must learn to avoid such deals and those in charged or perpetrators. One may hint another create, loot and share.

Frankly, reading between the lines of Hannah Tetteh's 'explanation' of this matter, I really cant find anything different from what the journalist wrote earlier. Unless one is completely stupid, after reading Hannah Tettehs version, you cannot but arrive at the same conclusion as what the journalist wrote.

To begin with, what has Hannah Tettehs birthday - a personal matter, have to do in official discussions with the Chinese Ambassador? Is the Chinese Ambassador her 'friend'? In what context did she mention the date of her birthday to the Chinese Ambassador? Did she manipulate the Chinese Ambassador to succumb to some kind of emotional blackmail to build that school-block to obviously enhance her fortunes as an MP in the upcoming elections?

Again, could she possibly have manipulated the Chinese Ambassador to succumb to what seems like 'blackmail' - in a hidden agreement to build that school-block in return for some unknown favour by the Ghana govt to the Chinese govt or the Chinese Community in Ghana?

There is no way Hannah Tetteh can extricate herself from this one. Whichever way one looks at it, it smells bad and Hannah Tetteh goofed big time.

We thank the Chinese Communist govt and the people of China who did not enslave us nor steal our resources for over 500 years under colonialism, for doing many things - including the building of this school block for the people of Ghana. But the strange and uncomfortable incidence of the Chinese Ambassador building a school in an area in an election year where, no other than our own Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is the current MP, will be standing as an MP again, is an unwise decision.

I am not a sympathizer of the NPP who hypocritically reject communism but behind the scenes, they virtually go on their knees to beg for gifts and assistance from communist countries, but all the same, unduly favoring Hannah Tetteh with such an advantage creates what I consider to be unfair competition. Or should we just simply put the matter to rest by assuming that this gift from China either suffered from bad timing or was offered to an ill-advised location.

It was the Ndc Constituency Youth Organizer from his constituency and the DCE from that District who said the building was a birthday gift to Hannah Tetteh from China government. They said this on a radio station and the Journalists reported it so if Hannah Tetteh has a problem with that news then she should confront her constituency youth organizer and the DCE from her constituency for this propaganda that has come back to haunt her.

How many people can discuss with the Chinese Ambassador about problems in their area, it is an abuse of office and Ghanaians should know that. What makes it wrong is that the NPP or any other candidate cannot get the same support from the Chinese Government because they will not be in the position to offer the Chinese govt any form of contract. This is a bribe. She should come out and clearly tell us what NDC promised the Chinese Ambassador in the form of contracts. We are not kids, we can read between the lines. There are grants available in the for marginalised women's groups that could be accessed by such groups - with the help of the Senya Breku District Assembly working closely with the relevant entities in Ghana's network of NGO's.

As for the abysmal reporting, alas, it is symptomatic of the challenges of an educational system that has large parts, still stuck in a time-warp.

How many public schools have computer labs and internet access?

What hope do pupils from financially-challenged homes have, if they are being left behind by those in their generation, who come from privileged backgrounds?

A nation like ours needs to protect the public purse from well-connected crooks-in-high-places - so that all Ghanaian children attending public schools can keep up with those in the well-endowed private schools.

No democratic nation in which huge disparities in wealth exist, can hope to remain stable and peaceful for very long.

We must always remember that - especially our hard-of-hearing educated urban elites.

Bravo to the Hon. Hannah Tetteh. A few more under-privileged children in Senya Breku will now have access to well-furnished classrooms for a change. Excellent.

I wonder if it is a mere reflection of the quality of education and training they now receive
The language is always fraught, poor diction , presentation , logic , lexis , structure and facts.
Even so l would have thought that their editors could work harder at news presented to us for public consumption
I remember in the late 70's and early 80's such lazy works will be thrown into the waste bin straightaway by news or page editors
I remember my days at the then Free Press during these times when we worked our socks out in getting quality reportage across the journalism landscape
What is going on with these boys andgirls is a shame to the profession as it undermines standards of efficient and best practice
Can we depoliticise our media practice and improve the quality of training and supervision of these guys please !!!!

The Chinese do more dirty politics than we do. The government is authoritarian that's fooling the world they're democratic. As the foreign affairs minister, Hanna Tetteh should prove herself to be above partisan politics. Both Hanna Tetteh and the Chinese Ambassador knew they were dabbling in something that's unethical by choosing to build and donate the school to her constituency. We're not fools. The presidential and parliamentary elections are just one year away and Hanna Tetteh and the Chinese Ambassador knew gifting a"prestige project" to the Minister's constituents will retain the parliamentary seat for Hanna who faces stiff challenge and tilt the Presidential election in favor of the President who is running on the ticket of Hanna's NDC Party. The opposition parties should get together and vigorously protest this interference in our political process by another foreign government until the ambassador is withdrawn.

Her explanation raises more questions than answers:

1) You are the foreign minister, not the minister of education, why ask about school infrastructure in your district? Your portfolio is foreign affairs. Yes, you can discuss it, but isn't there something untoward and fishy about it. Did the minister of education attend the opening of the school? Wouldn't it have been that minister instead of her?
2) Does she not see the obvious inter-connection between her request and a conflicting protocol while acting as a foreign minister?
3) If this is her explanation, it is her level of intelligence, sense of propriety and decency, including integrity, that raise questions, not the journalistic standards of the country.
4) If she is our top diplomat, and diplomacy requires some amount of discretion and reflective engagement, she is not worth the paper on which she was appointed minister of foreign affairs! Wouldn't she have discussed or thought about how this would play both to the Chinese and the Ghanaian public?

She simply confirms how lacking we are in competence at all levels. She's a bonehead, fat ass idiot who just happens to have a law degree, and that saddens me to no end. We are in serious trouble, this country.

As a country we have become so shameless that we don't see anything wrong with begging. Madam Tetteh please tell the government to meet the basic needs of the people from our own resources. When the Chinese need schools their foreign minister doesn't go begging. More so a government whose ministers drive gas-guzzling SUVS and spends millions of $ just to brand buses with pictures of presidents.

Conflict of interest on her part as the Foreign Minister, the Chinese Ambassador meddling in Ghana politics, and sort of bribing the people on behalf of the foreign minister. Why must Hanna Tetteh even as a mature politician mention the project was discussed (on two occasions) in the "week of her birthday"? She is not even intelligent enough in recanting the "birthday gift" statement attributed to her or the Chinese Ambassador?
