We the following regions have declared today that we owe no allegiance to any party and therefore we will vote based on development and state of life in Ghana. The regions include: Greater Accra Central Western Brong Ahafo and Northern Volta can keep to NDC as they are known for Ashanti can keep to NPP as has always Eastern can veer towards NPP as usual Upper East and West can veer towards NDC as usual. We GMR value our votes and and we will vote based on how serious and competent a government is committed to the country development and youth. We will vote based on how the government is corrupt free. You may join if you want. No government can take us for a ride thinking that we will vote no matter what. AMENFI WEST showed the way

My God! And to think that such a person has not only been a medical practitioner for many years but she has also been a Chief Executive of the Korle Bu hospital before. We are in serious trouble paa in this country.
What does this Afua Hesse woman think heads of Depts are for? And what does she mean by that the hospital needs to be decentralized? Calling the Heads of Depts by the same description of Heads of Dept will not change anything even if you call them Chief Executive Officers of the same Depts.
Secondly, as for opting for a completely decentralized administrative option that is not answerable to an over-riding authority for the hospital, then you are only looking for more trouble with the additional burden of a convoluted bureaucracy that promises to create more incompetence and corruption.
The problem with the Korle Hospital as with all other state institutions is that, upon assuming power, corrupt and incompetent govts, appoint their friends, relations as well as party hacks and sponsors to head such institutions. Most of such people are given the job as a form of payback or an overture of gratitude or most likely, as conduits to discreetly siphon public money for themselves and into the party treasury and certainly not because they are sufficiently competent. Its as simple as that. In the process, a party hack who for example is recommended by the President to assume the position of Chief Executive of Korle Bu, therefore becomes more powerful than the Minister of Health himself. Such a person therefore assumes a pompous air of invincible authority that is above that of the Ministry of Health. Such people then begin, in spite of all odds, to play out their materialistic childhood and rural fantasies associated with that of being a big man to the disadvantage of the smooth running and progress of the hospital or the state institution as the case may be. If or when they do not manage to create, loot and share sufficient funds and opportunities into party coffers or for other party loyalists, it is assumed that they are not competent at the job. They are then promptly replaced or fired.
Simply put, this is the curse of the Korle Bu Hospital. The hospital, by default, has become an extension of the unproductive curse of the inherently corrupt Western multi-party system. It is the same curse that has stifled the development of other state institutions and ultimately, the progress of the state itself.

The heads of department cannot spend Gh 10 without approval from the CEO. I like your analysis but the insults you hurled at the professor is uncalled for.

Talk is cheap. What does decentralisation mean? If it means slicing up Korle Bu into business units each with a CEO then that's something to be considered, otherwise I can't figure out what decentralisation mean in management ... read full comment

Kojo.what's the lady saying is quite right to look in to.she only mean the managements and doctors working procedure needs to be decouple, where by the managements section should be given to people who are specialized in management.that's would allow the doctors to operate freely without falling into such mismanagement.because only few doctors have managerial or have combine business management to their medical doctrine.

The problem is anything associated with this ndc never works for the country and people. Those soothsayers and prophets must tell this government in the face they've wronged GOD by their actions and utterances and not untill they are delivered or pacified against the evil that they've brought to themselves they will be like the NOAH's time when the rain came down and drowned everyone. NDC have sinned against God and the people of this country hence even competency becomes incompetent when you associate with them. I tell you, if you bring even Bill Clinton or Obama to Ghana to help ndc succeed they will become incompetent, bring the most trusted economists in the world to help ndc they will perform abysmally. THERE IS SOMETHING REALLY, REALLY WRONG WITH THE NDC.
