With energy crisis, this is not a surprise and on a more positive note should bounce back when the problem is resolved.

Ghana arguably is a baby in oil production, secondly at this period of lowest oil pricing on record, the Prof should not project it should be business as usual. There are not many economies that have annual growth of 3%,not even the big economies. It is tough all over the the world .We have oil producing countries like Saudi Arabia,Nigeria,Venezuela,Russia all struggling at the economic front, due to lower pricing.Major commodity producing economies are all struggling and are talking about how to diversify.I would like to remind Prof Gyan that,Ghana is not an economic island in terms of commodity pricing and the effect on these economies.According to Prof Gyan-Baffour the glass is half empty but did not come out with any alternative.Leading commodity countries like Australia is trying to shy away from commodity dependant economy to high tech, and the new Prime Minister is rightly making the sales for that in agreement with the opposition. It not good enough to point out the short falls without offering any alternative.

This is their stock in trade -- the NPP hooligans. They want to paint everything in Ghana black without regard to what is happening globally. Ghana is not an island, and it is foolish to suggest that we are not affected by what is happening elsewhere. I wonder if they read the news or even read international newspapers for their research. But the good people of Ghana truly understand everything and no matter what these silly Profesors say and do, the NPP will never come to power, at least not now.

Yes GONZALEZ, Ghana is a baby in oil production but when we didn't have oil, our country moved from HIPC to middle level income in 2008. Now we have oil and yet our economy is shrinking because of incompetence, mismanagement and corruption. GDP and per capita income are dwindling and you can't see because you are politically myopic and stupid and intellectually bankrupt as well as an academic dwarf. Just like those clueless NDC fools who are leading the country into abyss.

You may refuse to understand that what happens in the international markets affects our domestic market as well, remember the market fluctuates.Major economies like USA,Germany,France,United Kingdom all had the fair share when the markets tumbled into the recession in 2008.,not to mention Greece,Portugal,Spain and Ireland. The global economy has not fully recovered. There is no need for you to blow the fuse, focus on intelligent debates, your use of harsh words is rather unhelpful.Adepa, tone down, you could one day regret using harsh words on the net.Let your intelligence speak for itself devoid of insults.

He is a Professor, what is your qualification? You are just an academic DWARF. The Prof. has said it all. It's corruption, incompetence and day light rubbery on the part of the NDC and their criminal syndicate.

Your arithmetic is even poor, if you have 8.4 and it changes to 4.2, is it not a reduction and is reduction not negative? Foolish fool.

At best it can be described as a 50 percent decline in growth. I wouldn't support the negative growth description.
