Ivor Greenstreet said directly to President John Mahama and Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur that: “You don’t care”.
“Nobody is feeling your better Ghana”,
In the full glare of the President, Vice President, former President Jerry Rawlings, and thousands of leaders and supporters of the NDC, a defiant Greenstreet said: “…Currently nobody, I mean nobody is feeling your better Ghana.”
“Continuous ‘dumsor dumsor,’ corruption from top to bottom, left right inside out, and all the challenges you are facing [are] suffocating the Ghanaian people.”
He added: “We would have thought that perhaps you may have used an occasion like this to discuss policies, programmes and solutions to all the difficulties we are facing as a nation, but no, you chose today to share your Christmas gifts with each other.”
“Ghanaians are not happy at all. This ‘bronya’ is dry. Too too dry,” he told the President, adding: “The most painful thing of all is that you don’t care.”
“NDC continue, we are watching you, Ghana is watching you, do what you want to do, we also know what we’ll come and do…make sure you’ll elect executives who will be able to steer your parties affairs when you are in opposition. Boys abr3.”

These days people are forming all sorts of organizations just to make themselves relevant in the public space. Who is this one too? We either want power or we dont want it. Dont these so called analysts realise that we are gradually moving away from hydro and therefore increased cost of production which would translate into increased tariffs. All the power plants coming on stream are they going to run on water? All sorts of crazy people wake up in the morning and spew rubbish. What we should be doing is to tell government in the face that after charging these tariffs we expect and demand power. That is what the TUC and other groups should be doing, not questioning why the tariff because it is a stupid question to ask

Ghana’s President Hurls Insults At Obasanjo At African Forum In London-bloomberg
There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults. This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year. This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger, called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “silly buffoon”.It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room. The forum, which takes place from 1st to 3rd December is attended by African Heads of States Ministers, Private equity firms and investors to discuss opportunities for investment and development in African Economies.

This is not a matter of the heart but about paying to have better power supply. We have to face realities. Appealing to emotions would not help us. Let us pay and hold them responsible to give us better service. With purity, you achieve nothing, thou sayeth Kala Uka, an African Poet. An Arab activist, Hannah Ashrawi, said one has to be wicked in order to be kind. The soldiers have it that "No pain, no gain."

Ghana's poor suffer not because of a ruling party but because of bone head parliamentary decisions. The people Ghana should be mad at are the rich folks in society prancing around in fancy cars, living in fancy and gated communities but selfishly avoid paying their fair share of taxes, even as some try to get illegal connections or beat down prices on everything they need to pay for goods and or services.
Government must cover the cost of producing and delivery; it's no longer sustainable for government to subsidize everything in Ghana. We must pay for what we consume.

In this age you pay what you get. If you like don't use power and you don't have to pay anything. Its as simple as that. Electric power is not a birth right hence no one can force the president to provide it.

Politic has clouded so much of the Ghanaian way of thinking, to the extend that we are failing to distinguish long term policy objectives from the mid or short term goals. It is extremely disheartening to listen to a scholar providing this sort of one sided argument to the neglect of current reality of cost analysis of any consumable investment. The reality is that Ghana at this point should not be looking at the short term solutions to its energy challenges but should focus on long and sustainable term solutions. And here is the wisdom of my argument with some questioning. Did Ghana ever reach a point of power efficiency in its history ? (Yes we did), and why are we here today? (Greater expansion, demand from household use, small scale businesses to heavy industrial usage - population explosion). So having been caught up in that sense of complacency it is about time to bite the bullet. Ghanaians need to sacrifice by paying more today to ensure long and sustainable power generation planning. To get back to the threshold of power efficiency where everything else can flourish as alluded by this personality therefore is to ask ourselves the question ' is it the egg or the chicken first' ?

To improve services you need to invest. And that means money. Where does the money come from. Surely not from the government. It comes from the consumers. Even in the UK tariffs are set always with an investment component. We should stop pretending that the Utility companies have money to invest. They can only borrow against expected revenue. We should rather insist on a timeline of tangible improvements and to help them flush out people who steal water and electricity
