The EC and many other institutions in Ghana are not beyond suspicion and most of the aggrieved who cry foul have genuine cases against them. Long years of dictatorship and undemocratic governments have contributed immensely in destroying these institutions since independence.
As a result, the EC is very corrupt and does not have professional and democratic culture needed to conduct free and fair elections devoid of the usual electoral malpractices. Both the winners and losers know this fact, but the communist relics and dictators have been benefiting from the statuesque since independence, and they are already in bed with the EC to rig the 2016 elections.

I am surprised that Ghanaians seem to be placing corruption at the table of only the Judiciary. This is WRONG. Corruption is a national DISEASE. A survey of Ghanaians who have had to get anything done by civil or public service institutions will reveal just how deep the problem is. Anyone who has tried to 1. Get a passport,or 2. Register land/a vehicle, or 3. Get benefits from SSNIT/AG, etc, has a tale to tell. The causes are simple: Punishment for corruption in Ghana has largely not been severe enough to deter perpetrators. Solution: Name, shame, jail, and recover the proceeds of corruption. Recovery is what is lacking.

The judges who took the bribe knew very well the implication of it. Why did they do that? Going forward, if they want to restore their credibility they should expedite action and sanction those culpable judges; as a deterrent to the rest. Judges must stick to the moral and professional ethics. As for the other state institutions, it is their duty to ensure that Ghanaians see them as independent and credible. If they do so there will be no problem. EC should ensure that concerns of Ghanaians before, during and after the election are promptly addressed. Opinion leaders must put in their voices where there is a deficiency in our institutions. After all these people have done their part, the ordinary Ghanaians' part will be much easier. And issues of credibility will be addressed.

Aning is a typical Ghanaian fool. There's nothing like collective trust in the judiciary; there's even NO iota of trust, not an atom of it in the judiciary.
Let's put all politicians in jail! What a country!

I think we all must start masking disguising ourselves to school, work and all public places and after that is accepted use the trick to bomb places. That's stupidity to the highest level and must be condemned by civil society.

Let's hope these remarks by Forbes Magazine don't become self-fulfilling prophecy. My initial reaction was that US can also use some advice in maintaining a successful democracy where the vote of every American citizen will count in their coming election.
