When you go to the people and ask them for a mandate its normally based on the fact that you actual have a blue print plan and road map so within your first year of implementation the results are visible . you dont ask for power to begin to learn on the job as that amateurism and foolishness.This is the caliber of our ex military wanna be businessmen who due to undeserving privileges can even own banks , another empty headed idiot

I would have given this suggestion a thought but because African governments do not know what is resignation is I will definitely say no. When they have no clue what good governance is, when they don't know how to boil even an egg, there is no way they will admit and resign as we see today.
Why has the four-year term worked in so many countries but not in our case? Can you imagine a bad government staying in power for 7 continuous years? It will be wreckage.

After four years if you perform and your people still have confidence in you, they give you the mandate to continue when you fail them they boot you out. The first four years is a test if you pass, you have eight years and that is good.

Despite any good will amd intentions, truth is ndc has not done much to help. Private industry has but government machinery ? No. Of prime concern is one outstanding fact which JJ, other leaders, Anas, Amidu, etc etc have stated : ndc politicians and their affiliated groups are just the most corrupt the country had ever seen. So, knowing this why try to give them longer ? If they had promised 5 things and delivered 4 it would have been better.
Now that it's time for elections they want to start making new promises and take people to be fools.
No way will anyone be given that chance. Even for amosbeng to make that comment he misjudged the mood of the people

A 7 year term being tried in Rwanda is unworkable hence President Paul Kigame's recent request for the amendment of his country's constitution to enable him run again. 7 year term is unacceptable. Based on the incompetence alone, just the incompetence alone, you might as well pack all your belongings and head into the stone age and dwell in caves and on trees and that is just for the incompetence alone.
If you add the thievery to it over a 7 year tenure, then you might as well kiss civilization goodbye never to be experienced for a 1000years.
The 4 year tenure Ghana has at the moment is more than enough. We should even consider introducing midterm elections within the 4 year tenure so such useless gov't's like the one led by John Mahama are sent packing quickly before the country collapses permanently.
Four years with midterms would be the best for Ghana gov't's.
Governance is very serious business not given to uselessness, so you better know what you are about before you seek the mandate of the masses for the 4 year tenure.
