Yes all Ghana made is good but make sure to respect the original earlier makers of kente weivers of The Great Ashanti Kingdom who introduced the creativity to other parts of Ghana & the world. Ashanti Kente is intellectually specified & tops valued than Ewe made Kente. This is the norm of the European & Western Antiquity history. You cant steal the honour given to Ashanti Kingdom by refusing to add them to any Kente exhibition on this planet earth. Akans in general has travelled to the western world and hold major positions than their counterpart Ewe tribe who are now holding ministerial positions in the just local administration. Can you advise the ministry of tourism to stop being bias to history, because it will not help them anyway. History can never wipe away because Ashanti Kingdom was an Empire. Politics cant spoil that image. Europeans knows very well the history of true kente than we Africans. Portraying as if Ashanti kente is lost at the exhibition as holds nothing in that exhibition under the ministerial post will kill Ghana Tourism.

Freaking thieves, kente weaving did not originate in the Ashanti bushes! And maybe neither in the Ewe enclaves, but the point is there is ewe kente and they have every right to create their own fantasy exhibition, since in Ghana you freaks of nature Akans think everything in Ghana has to be Twi or Akan. It is for this sole reason that everything good about Ghana stinks. The only time I have Ghana shine is when there acculturation - North South East and West come together and showcase Ghana. All this foolish nigger-ass licking Hiplife Twi music has died, so is this bush ignorant Twi TV shows...now you want to fight over that stupid cheap tawdry and uncomfortable kente cloth too. Fuck this, when humans are talking about fine silks, exotic cotton and finest linen shirts, you people want another Kente War?

Say it again brother. Now they talk of Agama symbols to rival Adinkra symbols. Very soon , they will say Adinkra and it's symbols have their origin in Ewe land. They have stolen the beautiful and complex Asante Kente designs to replace their drab fugu like designs. These days you can not even differentiate between an Asante cheif and Ewe chief. They have discarded the singlet they wear with Kente and adorn themselves with gold ornament with Adinkra symbols . I once knew of one Mr. Amevor who used to boast that his Kente is the original Asante Bonwire Kente. Now they want to say Kente is theirs.

Indeed, some European libraries have a lot more books about the origin of kete/kente than all the libraries in Ghana, starved of such books by book and research allowance grabbing intellectually bankrupt lecturers. The European records and archives showed which W. Africans supplied them with textiles prior to devt of the Manchester mills and the cotton weaving Ewes stand talll, not the raffia weaving Akans, including Asantes. Were it not the case that the libraries are empty, many of you won't remain so ignorant as this. Our university lecturers and the govts have been breeding ignorant fools since the overthrow of the CPP!
I bet not even a copy of this great book on kete/kente, "African Majesty: The Textile Art of the Ashanti and Ewe" by Peter Adler and Nicholas Barnard, can be found at the Legon Balme Library.
A reading of that book alone will leave no one in doubt where weaving of kete/kente originated from in Ghana and which is considered the superior one. Of course, the cotton waeving tradition preceded the settlement of the Ewes in Ghana, and they probably also learned it from others before migrating to Ghana. But it is in Ghana that the textile gradually assumed the gaudy colours that it has today, thanks to the Europeans bringing coloured yarns from Asia. Original kete/kente wasn't colourful, as Africans didn't learned to dye in many colours. The yarn is still imported, this time from Dubai. I am presently trying to raise some funds to invest in the yarn biz in Lagos, Nigeria, where 100s of Ewe weavers have relocated and are carrying out a booming business supplying the rich Nigerian middle and bigger class with the superior type of kete, not the inferior "single thread" one from Bonwire. Most Ghanaian so-called middle class just too poor to afford to buy kete/kente anyway.
