Ken Saro-Wiwa was a good writer and his literally exploits will live well after him but he probably overplayed his human rights activities. He resorted to militancy to achieve his objectives and in so doing caused the death of prominent chiefs of the area who opposed his militancy.
The law is no respecter of titles or achievements so it caught up with him.No excuse is enough to incite your people to commit crimes,if you do so the law will set to discipline you and that is what happened in the Ken Wiwa case.
Abatca as dictatorial as he was was firm and refused to be influenced by the western press and African journalist like Cameron Duodu who were using the human right argument as the basis of his defense. As for Mandela,he became a stooge of the west and had to tow their line for what ever reasons best known to himself.

If you had eve seen people dying of throar cancer because of the ash from gas flares; if you had seen fish dying from rivers ad lagoons because petroleum had been spilled into the water; if you had seen land that is so burnt that no bananas could grow on it, as we have in Ogoniland and elsewhere in the Rivers State, you would not be surprised that Ken Saro-Wiwa adopted militant tactics to save his people.
Who are you to judge him? Whar right did Abacha, a coup-maker who committed the illegal act of treason, to take the law into his own hands and murder nine people for protesting?
Osei, you are an disgrace. And I make no bones about that.
