In the first place,the government is not directly obligated to give them any compensation rather whatever conditions of service his agency has in terms of death is what they should get in addition to the insurance covering the vehicle,that is all he is entitled to,the money given to them is just a good gesture from the government.
I even have a problem withn the government giving them 20,000 while given the wife 5,000 which is unbelievable that somebody lost the husband we gave her just a quarter of what the parents of the husband got which also means we still believe in our primitive culture that assets of a husband belongs to the family not the wife and the children who are the immediate family.

We end up marrying the wrong people even though all the signs show that that person is not the right one, give all our money to a Pastor because he says so when we know there are others in our community who are in desperate need,make others jump the queue because they are family or friends,turn a blind eye when a crime is committed because the person is family,award contracts to incompetent people because they are friends or family, the list goes on and on.
Ghana will move forward if everybody is treated the same and we all do things based on merit, rules and regulations.
If Mahama wants to give the family something out of his own pocket, that's fine but not at our expense.
Doing things by Heart always creates problems . The car insurance company should be paying up and likewise the insurance company of The Times. If not the MD of The Times and the Vehicle's owners should be held accountable if they have no insurance.
This has nothing to do with the state.

I blame my President because he has no right to do what he has done. He is setting a bad precedent. I have seen my mates in the military died on operations. They received nothing except what they are entitled to. A peanut which is theirs anyway. The military ends up ejecting their wives and children from the barracks and they don't care where they to to sleep. I am ashamed of this woman. I also advice the President to put a complete stop to such practices. Am not too sure if he did that to counter Akufo Addo's rushing to the deceased house and playing politics with the death. Luckily, since the death of Sam Nuamah, no single Ghanaian has die for Akufo Addo to mourn with them. What a disgrace !

And by the way, what type/size of house is she talking about? For her information, 20,000 can in fact build a 'house' depending upon how big and where one wants it. In Ghana there are houses which cost more than one million US$ whilst there are others that don't cost more than GHC10,000.
