Master to enhance the engineers from UST and the likes you need to make soldier training after university a requirement in Ghana. This will prepare them for actual engineering work . Soldiers are disciplined and sharp. Soldiers are honest and reliable. These are the basic requirements for becoming an engineer in the west. When a plane crashes in UK or USA the engineers assessment is truthful and final with no hidden agenda for example

What rubbish are you talking about. In Australia and Canada , I have worked in as an engineer you don't need to be a soldier before. he problem in Ghana is we all want the short cut way. As an artisn and engineer in any field there needs to be a development part in your vocation. What happns is people just catapulted into positions without actually having worked through the mill, so every one thinks if your have the qualification you short circuit the system. Politicians are also to blame. Check some of the appointment that are made. You cannot be a head master without having been a teacher, even as a lawyer, nurse, doctor, accountant you go through stages of your career development. In Ghana everything is possible including the quality of civil servant, politicians and all positions

Minister Benjamin Dagadu Blows Ghana's $6,004 Billion Talking Engineers!
Why don't Minister Dagadu help Ghana adopt the Productions Sharing Agreement contract and save GHana Billions of dollar. Then, Minister Dagadu and Parliament could use 5% of that money to train 25 engineers every year for 10 years!
How about that, Minister Benjamin Dagadu?

I am challenging your argument from the stand point of the fact that you've been working in Canada does not mean the point ease was relevant. I can see where the recommendation was coming from , the type and sort of quality of engineers being produced in Ghana living in Ghana lacks the fundamentals basics skill set. And by tagging on some survival training it will induce a mental mind set of credibility. From the fact that the Ghana engineer living in Ghana does not have what it takes to innovate, create and manufacturer.

WE COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE. GHANA IS RETROGRESSING BECAUSE IT IS WASTING MONEY IN EDUCATING THE YOUTH IN IRRELEVANT AREAS. IF NOTHING IS NOT DONE TO REVERSE THIS TREND, GHANA WILL SOON BECOME A LAUGHING STOCK ON THE CONTINENT. WE LIKE BEAUTIFUL AND BUY THE MOST MODERN THINGS BUT FORGET TO ASK OURSELVES HOW WILL THOSE THINGS BE MAINTAINED OR REPAIRED IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG. THE STATE AS A MATTER OF URGENCY TO ENSURE TO SEND MORE AND MORE GHANAIANS TO STUDY MORE TECHNICAL COURSES ELSE THE COUNTRY CANNOT SUSTAIN MOST OF THE MODERN THINGS IT IS IMPORTING INTO THE COUNTRY. LIBERAL SUBJECTS ARE NO LONGER NECESSARY FOR THE COUNTRY TO MAINTAIN ITS INFRASTRUCTURE THE WAY THINGS STAND.TECHNICAL SUBJECTS LIKE MATHS AND SCIENCE ARE NOT EASY SUBJECTS AND THOSE STUDENTS CHOOSING THOSE SUBJECTS MUST BE ENCOURAGED AND SUSTAINED. WE HAVE ENOUGH LAWYERS AND LIBERAL STUDENTS. GHANA MUST EMPHASISE ON TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT ELSE THERE WILL BE TROUBLE. ALREADY THINGS ARE NOT LOOKING GOOD BECAUSE WE ARE NOT BEING ABLE TO ADEQUATELY MAINTAIN OR REPAIR MACHINERY. LOOK AROUND, EVERY MAJOR PROJECT IS CONSTRUCTED OR MANAGED BY FOREIGNERS. THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE IS NOT ENOUGH AND THAT IS WHY WE MUST TRAIN MORE TECHNOLOGISTS. THEY ARE THE BACKBONE OF ENGINEERS. ENGINEERS CANNOT DO WITHOUT TECHNOLOGISTS IN MOST FIELDS. MORE ENGINEERS PLEASE.

How do we get more Engineers, technologists, artisans when we have not built more technical institutes, secondary technical, polytechnics and universities apart from KNUST, UMAT to offer more engineering courses n Ghana. The death f the local manufacturing sector does not give our students access to practical work needed. To be a good engineer, practical work and access to research and development is needed. All new universities are offering the same courses and most of the KNUST graduates migrate leaving the skills gap needed widening. Encourage science education with necessary interventions and support. Foreign companies in the manufacturing sector must be forced to help in training the scarce skills outside the country. This will help, like the Eastern Scholarship helped Ghana to get more graduates in the science related areas.

OPAYIN MINISTER,
AS YOU ARE AWARE,WE ARE ECONOMIC BACKWARD,UNDERDEVELOPED AND POOR BECAUSE THE SO CALLED EDUCATED IN GHANA WITH ENGINEERING AND NATURAL SCIENCE DEGREE TITLES, STILL REMAIN UNCONVINCED OF THE IMPORTANCE OF SCIENTIFIC INNOVATION, TECHNOLOGY, INVENTION, DISCOVERY AND CREATIVITY IN CREATING ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT IN GHANA.
ASSIGN THEM WITH ENGINEERING WORKS AT THE OIL AND GAS PRODUCTION,ONCE, THEY FAIL TO LIVE TO EXPECTATION AS IT IS DONE TO ENGINEERING GRADUATES IN DEVELOPED NATIONS, THEY ARE DISMISSED AND ASKED TO FIND WORK AT ANY INDUSTRIAL PLANT WHERE PRFORMANCES ARE NOT REQUIRED.
UNFORTUNATELY, SUCH EASY WORK PLACES ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THEM AS WE HABVE THEM IN GHANA, AND THEREFORE, MANY OF THEM END UP AS TAXI DRIVERS, RUN BEER AND COFFFEE BARS:
THE SAME HAVE TO APPLIED IN GHANA, FOR THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT CONTINUE TO EMPLOY GRADUATES WITHOUT QUALITY PRACTICAL SKILLS FOR NON PRODUCTIVE WORK IN THE COUNTRY.
