The NPP Constitution and its basic rules and regulations were in place and binding on all its members before some were elected to executive positions. Therefore, being an elected executive member doesn't mean that you can't be disciplined according to the party's basic laws.

For example, the president of Ghana is subject to the basic laws of Ghana, and if he flouted them, he could be impeached and removed from office even though he was elected by some Ghanaians.

Mr. Afoko was said to have been invited many times to defend himself against the serious allegations leveled against him. But he failed to do so and the party disciplinary rules have been applied against him. This is what I consider as Democracy and the rule of law, and shows that nobody is above the law in the NPP party.

The whole election was characterized by inappropriate decisions. The most significant was the election of Sam Crabbe over FF Anto, who, as Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, consistently did a good job for the party at elections. Sam Crabbe as Greater Accra Regional Chairman, lost the region in 2008 when the NPP was in power. He had come to the regional job as a neophyte. The other grave decision of the Tamale congress was to have elected Paul Afoko as the National Chairman. Until Afoko's election, he had not garnered any experience, servicng the party at even it's lowest level of the organizational structure. A total stranger to a
position of authority and fame. Why would he not be reckless in taking decisions which might be the ideas of a 'smart alec' in the administration. What Afoko need do now, is to sit and reflect soberly; count the positives against the negatives of his one and half years in office. He should not forget that his brother Gregory, is facing trial in a politically motivated murder of a Regional Chairman of the NPP.

To all those who are complaining about Agyapong's letter, have you no decency to acknowledge that he is basing his petition on the same Constitution that the haters of the duo top Administrators, (him and Afoko) are dragging them to the Disciplinary Committee on the assumption that they have breached the Party's rules?

The NEC or the Disciplinary Committee cannot break the Constitution to demand that some other member of the Party obeys the same set of Laws. Period!!

If they would be invoking the Constitution against Afoko, they must do so according as the Constitution demands. No one or entity is above the Party's Laws.

Let Afoko in his defense, tell the court, the positives as against the negatives of his actions since his election.
