Most people, developers, journalist in Ghana has never been concern about research. They just write what they think. The Asanti/Ashanti kingdom was one of the greatest Empire that was gated with brutal security at Manhyia palace in Kumasi. Kumasi community at that time was also gated to prevent any type of invading force to enter her domain. The later developments by the visitors/Merchants from Europe (looking for gold) could not enter Kumasi at all cost. The Europeans was to wait as far as in Cape Coast for messages or business transactions. Kumasi was a forbidden City. So it was gated plus different systems of securities. Its very absurd to say "the first gated community in Kumasi. That is wrong history.

Right! Ghana has had gated communities since pre-history.It's largely because Ghana has neglected even her recent history that she is now so abused by money-grubbers and free-loading politicians.
