No, CJ is wrong. Abolish the BL program and follow the American system where candidates with law degrees write the bar exam. That will be an objective criterion for assessing what the law schools are doing. The CJ is incompetent. She wants fewer lawyers to be trained. This is an ancient Ghanaian mindset. Fewer lawyers means that the profession is prestigious. That is an African stupidity.

Madam Chief Justice. Your judiciary runs an institution that caters for the justice needs of less than 1% of the population. Training more lawyers is NOT equivalent to training bad lawyers. Commonsense shows that there are many specialisations within the law and these can easily be hived off and taught to many who are interested - land, children, theology, contracts, medical etc. It should not take more than a few months to teach and certify many who are interested in aspects of the law. For those who want to go further that would be a different matter. Accra land matters are killing the nation because of the absence of basic ground level knowledge of the law of the land among the land holding elders and chiefs. We need help. Revise your nonsensical notion of 'good lawyers'. Tell the same to the decrepit and irrational National Accreditation Board.
