I am not an expert but my common sense tells me that these plants should be sited near the raw material ie the gas that way this USD250,000 could have been saved or half of it for something else

No wonder you are not an expert. Because if you put the plants at where the gas is you then have to evacuate the power back to where it is demanded through high voltage transmission lines or much expensive SCADA systems passing overhead. further, the West Africa gas terminates in Accra so how do you deal with the reliability of the Nigerian gas? Note that such proposals normally comes from the technocrats and not the politicians who don't have brains.

In any case, it means there must be regulation in place such as Third Party Access regulation to enable West African Gas to carry Ghana Gas and vice versa to control how much rent they can charge.
Why are we focussing on gas which is exhaustible and temporary rather than investing such huge sums in community solar and rooftop solar to feed into the national Grid? Germany, California etc are doing solar feed in?

Bross, the west african gas pipeline ends in Takoradi alright, and if you red the story well, you'd realise that plans are afoot to connect the ghana gas pipeline to it to enable reverse flow of gas to Tema. But the point is that even when the two pipelines are connected, it cannot evacuate to Tema more than 350million standard cubic feet of gas per day. Mind you, TEN and Sankofa gas are coming. And to those who think the plants should be cited in Takoradi, need I tell them that Tema is the most industrialised part of the country and so requires way more power? And someone has already alluded to the high cost of transmission to Tema if you site the plants in Takoradi. I feel at times we just want to criticise so we close our eyes and minds even if we are advised. If ghana works it works for us all.

Good but for re-elections these things are too late in the day for ndc. Mahama's biggest problem is that he was not on top of his government from day one otherwise his second term election would have been very very easy (perhaps due to the yearlong wasteful election petition he could not concentrate-if so, why?) . I can't see how he will win a SECOND TERM ELECTION as his recent progressive actions are a bit too late in the day. We have had this Dumsor running for 3 long years, massive corruption at gyeeda etc ,etc, etc where up to date huge stolen moneys have not been retrieved for the poor nation from the corrupt personnel (a good effective leader should not have sat there for it to happen in the first place-Kuffour dull as he was would not have sat there- he will be monitoring from day one and if things were not progressing, more money would not have been pumped in only to be further "chopped"-kuffour was dull (perhaps gentle is the word) but very very decisive-that i will give to him)- I don't like NPP because it is a Tribal Bigoted Party but better a Bigoted Party who is at least effective on governance than an all inclusive Party who is poor at governance. Spio in my view would have been a very good leader for ndc-a man who will be on top of issues and very decisive. Mahama unfortunately is too nice and dull for a president and very very indecisive- can't see mahama sacking a Ministerial friend for non-performance like kuffour will do to that bigot Osafo-Marfo for non performance. Presidency and Governance is a very Serious thing as people's life depend on it-Mahama does not realize it so far in my View- he thinks nice talking and being friendly is the key-Unfortunately IT IS NOT
