Those who are UPRIGHT in our society including some FEW pastors get their values from home based on our good African value system and NOT from christianity.
Christianity has nothing GOOD for the African.
The white man who invented it in AD 350, infused it with violence and cold blooded evil devoid of any level of spirituality.
If the white man is NOT a good christian, how come you think you can be a good one with empathy for the less fortunate ones?

We abandoned our traditional structures that kept our society sane and adopted the whiteman's christianity and islam, which we don't understand. But the whiteman has a law enforcement system that ensures the right thing is done in their society - which we don't have. So there is a vacuum (a lacuna), so people have realise they can get away with crime and unacceptable behaviour. To worsen matters, the pastor tells you that if you sin he can pray for you and your sin is washed away!!
But who would dare to flout Antoa, or any local deity? Stealing, adultery etc were punished, not forgiven, in the African traditional setting. So there was order in society.
Tell me, which of our ministers or public officials would steal public resources if s/he swore to Antoa? I can swear that not ONE would dare.
The problem of Africa is that we have abandoned our culture and gone for the white man's culture which we don't understand how it works. Do you sincerely think that the whiteman's ancestors will leave their descendants and listen to your cries? Look at Arabs, they hate Africans and don't think we are human beings. Do you think that after death, they will listen to our prayers in the after-world? We must be kidding ourselves and living in denial. This is wishful thinking, as they say.

From the president to the last office holder, most of them are either Christians or Muslims and they will not hesitate to let people know that part of them. In reality, they are wolves in sheep skin. After swearing the oath of office with the Bible or whatever, it is then that they exhibit the darker side of themselves. Ask any of them to go to any shrine and swear that they will not indulge in any corruptible practices, they will be bold to tell you in crystal plain language that they are Christians and swearing in the presence of shrine, is against their religious beliefs.
What about the Bible? They know very well that stealing with the Bible in the other hand, will have no effect whatsoever on them and they will continue to do that till thy kingdom come.
Our elected officials or anyone working for the government, should be made to swear in the presence of any of our powerful shrines and let's see who and what will love to go that length.
That said, we are all in this together and it is up to us to exhibit honesty and uphold the rule of law. The laws of the land should respect no one else, we will see no light.

Mantey needs to do more than just bemoan the problem of Christian hypocrites. This crisis of confidence needs some effective measures that deter the practices. The method of journalists who carry secret cameras in sting operations to capture corrupt officials may be worth trying by concerned citizens and anti-corruption officials.
Could those recorded as soliciting bribes be replayed to the congregation to name and shame? If repentance is not immediately forthcoming, turning the recordings over to prosecutors. That kind of action would prove to all that the cancer of corruption will not be tolerated in the church or mosque.

The issue is about a country trying to develop based on foreign cultures.Africans have their cultures and values prior to the advent of Islam and Christianity and moral life was far better than it is now.
Swallowing other peoples cultures, hook, line and sinker instead of adapting and adopting only the good in those foreign cultures is a contributory factor to our moral woes.
Africans believed in communal life but some of these religions believe in capitalism under the principle of democratic living. The days of Christian communal life had since been jettisoned after the time of the biblical Stephen in the Old Testament of Christian religion. That was the time Stephen was chosen to head the group selected to care for the widows and have-nots in their society when people sold their property and shared the proceeds among themselves.
Africans should go back to the basics and leave out those foreign cultures that do not fall in tandem with our God-given ways of life. Before Islam and Christianity the African knew God and I dare say kept to His statutes even better.

The apostate nature of the church is the cause of the high level of corruption all over the place. Jesus Christ was driven you of the church and replaced by materialism. The church no more boasts of righteousness, hollines, truthfulness etc. But the boast of the church today is ornate buildings, flashy cars driven by pastors and the number of times they travel abroad. In reality the world loves the apostate church, which have become the epitome of all corruption, thievery and all forms of exploitation. A spiritually dead but physically alive and booming church. I've been to church in Ghana in the past couple of years and wasn't inspired in even a single instance! Most of services last for 3-5 hours and most of the time is dedicated to collecting money under all sort of pretext, allowing all these important church members to show off their ill gotten gains, and very little time for spiritual nourishment! Is there any wonder then that corruption is so rife in Ghana? Personally, the most uplifting church services I've ever attended have curiously usually lasted no more than an hour or under 2 hours!! Why not just leave the collection box(es) in vantage points in our churches so worshippers can donate or make their offering incognito??

IT WOULD BE HELPFUL IF ALL BISHOPS, PROPHETS, PASTORS, CHURCH PRESIDENTS ETC. EXHORTED ALL THE FAITHFUL NOT TO MAKE ANY CONTRIBUTIONS DURING OFFERTORY OR AT FUND RAISING FUNCTIONS, EVEN FOR CHARITABLE CAUSES, IF THEIR 'GOOD' MONEY THEY PLANNED TO DONATE HAD COME IN YOUCH WITH ANY CORRUPT MONEY EITHER IN THEIR POCKETS OR BANK ACCOUNTS. CHURCH BUILDINGS MAY BE LESS GLAMOROUS AND/OR TAKE LONGER TO CONSTRUCT, BUT I BELIEVE GOD WOULD GET GRATER GLORY AND THE COUNTRY WOULD BE LESS CORRUPT, AND, THUS, MORE GOD-FEARING.
