Decision has been made since the time Yen Akanfuo dien NPP showed disrespect to all tribes in Ghana. Akanfuo's Addo is just making fun of himself touring in Voltaland rather, thinking he could secure votes from the 'EWES', whom the Akanfuo's NPP have been insulting left and right. No way you can get votes from the same peoples your NPP party look down upon. You can continue to tour but that does not change anything in the anger, prepared to be executed by all other tribes (insulted Ewes, Gas, Fantes, Northerners, Kpassass, etc.) through votes, will be manisfested clearly, come 2016. Does he want to tell me that he doesn't know that the economy of Côte d'Ivoire is controlled and managed by Paris? I am shocked by the level of ignorance displayed by a 'lawyer' and former minister of foreign affairs. Or is he indirectly giving us a hint that if he ever becomes president of Ghana he will mortgage the management of the country's economy to the British in such a neo-colonial fashion? For his information, Côte d'Ivoire pays rent to the French government for the use of their own presidential villa in Abidjan. Ghana uses real numbers to determine their presidency (basically every vote counts) and there depth/concentration of our population is in the Akan areas and that is why you see a close election even when the NPP wins only two ...

Ghana uses real numbers to determine their presidency (basically every vote counts) and there depth/concentration of our population is in the Akan areas and that is why you see a close election even when the NPP wins only two regions. Have you seen the electoral map of the US? It is red (Republican) all over but still the blue (democratic) wins because most of the democratic support is in the big metropolitan cities with concentrated populations -- it actually comes down to who wins the 3 swing states Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio -- a candidate who carries two of the 3 almost always wins. My point is, it is not about regions in Ghana but population; and even in the US system the bigger the population the more the electoral votes, so sort of makes sense.

Strategy is the key in every election and I would say the NDC had a better strategy than the NPP in the last two elections -- they have used a fante VP or Candidate to break the Akan front. They may win again if they keep the last ticket unless somehow Ghanaians start voting on issues rather than how it is done now. The NPP strategy does not work because many from the North would choose to vote for Mahama who is on top of the NDC ticket than consider Bawumia who is at the bottom. The best strategy for NPP is to have put Bawumia at the top of the ticket and picked someone from one of the swing regions as a vice but hey, it is what it is, so we will see what happens. Unfortunately, we tend to vote on tribal lines therefore we don't get the best when it comes to our politicians, everything that goes into selecting our leaders is based on the tribal card.

I won't use those words to describe anyone or tribe; but I think you are right in saying that the NPP needs to focus on the swing regions (greater Accra, Central, Western and Brong Ahafo regions) than trying to woo the Volta region. But it is still early in the race so a visit to NDC strongholds is in order just to meet and greet NPP candidates and supporters.
As far as the bloated registers I don't think anyone is going to be able to resolve the issue in the short term; without an ID that identifies a Ghanaian and their age we will have the neighboring countries take advantage of our confusion. Who knows, the other parties may be busing in folks from countries who they think may be sympathetic to their party until we fix the fundamentals of who has a right to vote in Ghana and how we identify that person. My gut feeling is the register is going to get even bigger if the other parties become smart and take a page from the NDC to register non-Ghanaians. It does seem like the EC is letting the parties do the thinking she is suppose to do -- why do we have a commission then if you are asking the parties to resolve the issue?

Two couples were playing cards. Jeff accidentally dropped some cards on the floor. When he bent down under the table to pick them up, he noticed that Dave's wife, Sandy, was not wearing any underwear! Shocked by this, Jeff hit his head on the table and emerged red-faced.

Later when Jeff went to the kitchen to get some refreshments Sandy followed him and asked, "Did you see anything under the table that you liked?" Jeff admitted, "Well, yes I did." She said "you can have it, but it will cost you $100." After a minute or two, Jeff indicates that he is interested. She tells him that since Dave works Friday afternoons and Jeff doesn't, that Jeff should come to their house around 2:00 PM on Friday.

Friday came and Jeff went to her house at 2:00 PM. After paying her the $100, they went to the bedroom, had sex for a few hours and then Jeff left.

Dave came home about 6:00 PM and asked his wife, "Did Jeff come by this afternoon?" Totally shocked, Sandy replied, "Yes, he did stop by for a few minutes." Next Dave asked, "Did Jeff give you $100?"

Sandy thought, 'Oh hell, he knows!' reluctantly she said, "Yes, he did give me $100."

"Good," Dave says. "Jeff came by the office this morning and borrowed the $100 from me and said that he'd stop by our house on his way home and pay me back. It's so good to have a friend you can trust."

I have heard Akufo Addo making this fundamental mistake on numerous platforms and I wonder why someone close to him will not hint him that La Cote D'Ivoire has a larger land size than Ghana. Also, the Ivorian gross agric exports for 2015 may have exceeded Ghana's but Ghana' overall annual budget is several times higher than that of cote D'Ivoire which is very much controlled by the French in a neo-colonial fashion. I have traveled quite extensively in La Cote D'Ivoire and I can say authoritatively that that country's seemingly 'developed' satus is because France has kept Abigjan relatively beautiful and clean for their neo-colonial interests. Aside Abidjan, Yamoussoukro and perhaps Bouake and Daloa there is no decent city in the whole of Cote D'Ivoire, unlike Ghana that has quite decent regional and even districts with a better decentralized system, albeit imperfect. I would strongly advise nana akufo addo to stop making this comparison before someone from the other side embarrasses him one day. It is a very flawed argument that could come back to haunt him. I wonder how he can get this wrong all the time.

He has polarized this country for political expediency. used northerners and voltarians against the ashantis and now voltarians do not want to see ashantis for no good reason, the only reason as far as am concert is politics. unfortunately the ndc after wining power always forgot those two regions basic needs are just two; and that is education and irrigation dams for farming to improve on their living standards. ACHEMPONG was the one who build the TONO, irrigation dam at navrongo,VIA at bolga and BONTANGA irrigation at tamale which the then PNDC came to finish. as at last year the ndc has sold out the TONO dam to a private people and laid off the workers. if volta region can just change a bit like the way ndc is able to win some seats in ashanti region the tension will be minimise in our electoral system.

Since then, akufo addo has struggled to convince the masses that he has anything better to offer Ghanaians. The problem is his message. I wish he had a more convincing message than this style of trying to paint his opponent bad in order for him (akufo addo) to look better. The current Mahama government is definitely not doing very well, but there is nothing to convince anyone that akufo addo can do better with this kind of posturing. That is the crux of the matter.

Let's use this particular example; akufo addo gets the opportunity to talk to people in a region where his party has performed very poorly consistently in the past and this is what how he uses that audience:
1. He goes straight for the jugular vein of their preferred man (Mahama) and tries to outline all of Mahama's failures as a leader- OK, FINE

2. Next he starts heaping undue praises on the president of another country whom he considers a much better leader. This other leader (Ouatarra) has nothing in common with akufo addo except their age. There is no academic, professional nor blood relational commonality between them- SO WHY SHOULD WE BE BOTHERED ABOUT OUATARRA ?

3. Finally, he starts talking about himself, people are waiting for a message of hope, and all akufo addo can tell people is that he is too old to steal money from the national coffers! The implication is that people who become president at a younger age are more likely to steal? Kufuor became president at a younger age, what does akufo addo want to tell us about that? NPP is a party of fools (NPP KWASEAFUO PARTY). Why do I say that? You don't insult people, call them names, stump your fingers into their eyes and then weeks later go telling them to make you president. This is commonsense but apparently, commonsense is not common to the Party of Fools (NPP KWASEAFUO PARTY).

Winning an election is a strategic undertaking and as part of your strategy, you don't want to alienate any group of people. Commonsense again, right? Your party bigwigs should not go about telling other tribes to go kill Ewes and Gas. Another commonsense, right?

Your party bigwigs should not go telling people that your tribe is in the majority therefore you must be the ones ruling the nation and controlling the resources of the nation. Another commonsense, right? NPP KWASEAFUO PARTY.

Every twist and turn, the Party of Fools (NPP KWASEAFUO PARTY), has proved to be a party of dimwits, no strategic planning, windbags, loudmouths, and mother-sellers!

The day that NPP will understand how these "Togolese" reason, that day NPP will stop the insults and disrespect and can then expect that such overtures from Akufo Addo and others from the NPP can genuinely translate into votes for NPP at the pools. Until then, I say adios!

DID HE HAD NAP WHILE WAITING?During the commemorative lecture, a clearly tired Akufo-Addo, who was billed as the guest speaker for the event was caught napping in his chair, as even older dignitaries such as former President John Kufuor was raptly engrossed with the proceedings of the day.

Akufo-Addo's nap took several interesting postures; in one instance, he tilted his head backwards on his chair as he snoozed away. He later shifted gears as the boredom bore down on him; this time, he tilted his head sideways in what appeared to be a more comfortable sleeping posture in such an august gathering of party big-wigs.

According to eye-witnesses, the incident caught the attention of not only the cameramen and women but also some of the dignitaries who sat close to him who couldn’t help but to gossip.

Critics have pointed out his tendency to give in to nature and his age and health situation as his major setback towards the 2016 Presidential election, though he insist he is “perfectly fit” to lunge into the vigorous electioneering campaign next year.

He has courted a sizeable number of opponents within his party whose major opposition to his Presidential bid uncertain capacity to surmount his age and alleged health issues.

Akufo-Addo’s napping picture is being compared to a similar gaffe by Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe, who recently tripped and fell flat on his face on an official tour. The comical fall of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has quickly earned him thousands of internet Memes which have been used to represent several ridiculous postures.

The embarrassing spectacle has led to the sacking of several personal guards of 90-year-old Mr. Mugabe, apparently blamed for not preventing his now trending fall. But critics have blamed his advanced age for such high-profile mishaps.

In Ghana, Akufo-Addo has been compared to Robert Mugabe for his undying quest to become President despite his advanced age and an alleged health condition.

Akuffo-Addo and Robert Mugabe form a class of ageing African politicians who have increasingly come under ridicule for questing for power despite the general trend of African leadership shifting towards younger and more vibrant leaders.

Akufo-Addo, a veteran politician, has been defeated twice at the Presidential polls and has insisted on standing again as the opposition NPP’s 2016 Presidential candidate, a move that critics anticipate would be his most embarrassing in his political career if he loses again for the third time, because his advanced age will force him to abandon his long-nursed presidential ambition which has been battered several times by stronger contenders and now his age.
