Yes C.K.was the greatest both as a footballer and as a coach. His name will always be with football lovers. A little correction is that Aggrey-Fynn(scooter)was the captain in the 1963 tournament not Mfum.

CK was a perfect coach because Nkrumah and Ohene Gyan made the conscious effect to find a perfect coach for Ghana, by picking and turning a player into a national coach. That is the wisdom that our current leaders and football administrators lack. Nyantakyi picked Kwasi Appiah, a raw material and made him a national team coach, and expected him to deliver results. He could have sent Appiah to a top coaching school abroad before appointing him to the position of senior national team coach. Whereas Ohene Gyan prepared CK to succeed, Nyantakyi set Kwasi Appiah up to fail. He is not a smart leader.

Was the net that Mfum's shot tore a real net or was it an improvised one? Even though I admired the man during his playing days, I doubt if a ball kicked by a human leg could tear a net.

Wilberforce Kwadwo Mfum did actually "break the net". Check pics from Daily Graphic & Ghanaian Times archives. Nobody had a shot more powerful than him. Not even Ebusua Dwarf's Kwofie nor Bofoakwa's Kwasi Owusu came close.

And while we are at it, the Black Stars was captained in 1965 by Addo Odametey (check your spelling of last name, Mr. Amadu Katamanso)
Those were the good old days when the Black Stars were a joy to watch.
May the souls of CK Gyamfi, Jones Attoqueyfio, Aggrey Fynn, Agyeman Gyau & George Arthur all rest in peace.

From my recollection, Aggrey-Fynn (the lanky dribbler) was the captain of the Black Stars during the 1963 Africa Cup of Nations Cup where Mfum tore the net with his powerful shot and goal that beat the Tunisians. Mfum was captain after Aggrey-Fynn but he was saddled with knee injuries during his captaincy so his deputy Addo Odametey deputized as captain during the 1965 Africa Cup of Nations matches. I don't suppose Mfum was featured in any of the 1965 African Nations Cup games due to his injury. Nfum was out of the country playing in the US during the 1982 Africa Cup of Nations games. He was not in the Black Stars team at all then. But you know what, those members of the Black Stars team of yester-years brought excitement and joy to the game of football in Ghana. They were super good and delightful to watch. They played their hearts out for Ghana and CK (the local coach) was instrumental in their comportment, temperament and desire to die for mother Ghana on the field of play. CK Rest in Peace.
