  It is all well and good that we go into partnership with foreign companies. But this should be on an equal footing.
  
  Let us ensure that our national interests are foremost, and that agreements signed preserve our interests.
  
  Our economic problems stem in part from the fact that we have signed poor agreements effectively handing over our national wealth to foreign companies.
  
  Let us be more astute in dealing with foreign companies. Better still, let us quickly learn to exploit our abundant natural resources ourselves.
