  Frieght forwarders, transporters, Ceps, the police, importers, govt and other stakeholders shd come together and share ideas as how to reduce the this menace which can adversely affect our revenue base as well as our neighborly relationship with the land locked countries using our port facilities. We should be mindful that we have competitors like Togo,Benin and Côte d'Ivoire who can easily be an alternative for Burkina ,Mali and Niger, particularly as they have the advantage of being francophone.
  What I will suggest is that since, the ECOWAS protocol recommends a certain number of check points, govt in concert with the stakeholders should establish an outfit that would be responsible for monitoring the safe passage of the vehicles without any undue hinderance. To this end , the entity would fit in a tracking device in every vehicle that has been checked and certified of having met all it's obligation at the port. An escort is then attached to the vehicle who would accompany the cargo up to the next check point which should be midway around techiman. Since there is going to be a similar post around The country's northern boarders at Hamile,Paga and Bawku,we should have some escorts that would be accompanying vehicles from those posts hence they swap roles midway and take the vehicles back to the north and south ports respectively.
  This would then give us only three check points and also these electronic tracking and identification device would help monitor the cargo at a central control point.
