Council of State approves NDPC’s developmental policy framework

The Council of State has approved the National Development Planning Commission’s upcoming long term policy framework that will encourage stability and continuity in governance.

The approval was made by the Council when the Commission consulted them for their opinion and approval for the proposed national development policy framework.

Mrs Cecilia Johnson, Chairperson for the Council told the Commission that they appreciated the consultation of the stakeholders associated with the upcoming framework and plan.

She said this is an initiative that would move the nation forward because it is going to separate the development of the nation from the political ideologies in the country.

She urged the Commission to indulge members of the Council in the national consultation over the developmental policy framework that will take off from August 12, 2015 so that they can also share ideas towards the success of the policy.

“We give our full support to this exercise and we are going to take part in it to the benefit of the entire nation,” she said.

Professor Kwesi Botchwey, Chairman of the Commission, told the Council that the framework would have an operational plan of four years to allow each government that comes to power to make and use of its own plans of action to achieve the policies.

Dr Nii Moi Thompson, Director General of the Commission, said the Commission would employ excerpts from the African Union’s Agenda 2063 into the plan.

He also said The Directive Principles of State Policy as well as aspects that talk about petroleum guide in the constitution shall be used in the plan.
