When it comes to economic matters, many Ghanaians are one-trick ponies who can't think outside the box. Tax, tax, tax appears to the prophylactic.

ALL COUNTRIES do it...they PROTECT CORE INDUSTRIES TILL THEY GROW TO A CERTAIN STANDARD and then let them compete on the market.WE CANNOT COMPETE FROM THE WORD "GO" since very many countries are AHEAD of us in ALL SECTORS!!!The Ghanaian appetite for IMPORTED GOODS must be CURTAILED in one way or the other!!!
We are ALWAYS CRYING when the VALUE of the Cedi goes down. The FACT is that we have to pay for EVERY IMPORT IN USDollars and the MORE we IMPORT, the MORE Dollars we NEED to the DETRIMENT of our OWN CURRENCY!!!!
WHY CAN*T the govt. get this BASIC FACT ???????

Our white brothers support their Firms working in foreign countries to earn some amount of foreign exchange. What Ghanaian firms do we have outside? We are only interested in foreigners coming to invest. What about us going out? What do we have that the World needs. I am thinking of processed not raw. We must think. This age is for thinkers not producers of raw materials.

How long can you do this? Already things are expensive. Cars brought in are overvalued so people can pay more. These are all cheating. Governments must think. More brains should come into Govt. The 50% +1 is not good enough. Winner takes all is not helpful. To form Govt alone it must be 70% and above. As it is 50%+1 we donot have all brains on board. As if Govt revenue depends mainly on fuel and Import duties. The present system is divisive and fans tribalism and nepotism. We need long term goals and fight corruption. Not increasing duties at ports.

Hello everyone,
Yes that measure is part of the ways of tackling the issue but for me, i think we the citizen have lost our culture and identity. There are equally some goods made in Ghana that can challenge imported ones but Ghanaians do not still want it. We have to start and inform the whole nation fundamentally. We should uproot a tree not cut it off because it will regrow.
