In fact, one recent similar incident comes to mind. Folks, remember the Plane full load of our Gold Bars that was intercepted in Turkey? If I am not mistaken, the intercepted Plane was reported to have belonged to Ibrahim Mahama, the President's controversial brother. Hmmm!!! Where is that Gold? What happened to it? Who really owned it?

That Gold case took over our Media for a few weeks, or so, and quickly fizzled. Was this the normal way to transport such valuable mineral even in the general Minerals Market?

Folks, it used to be our Timber, not so long ago, the reason which Ghana's Timber Marketing Board was abrogated in the 80s and reconstituted into the Ghana Timber Exporting Company. But did that even address the theft and dubious extraction of our Timber?

Well, here we are today importing Wood from abroad! The mere sight of Odum, Kokrodua, Cedar or even Wawa in our devastated Forest is a miraculous rare feast to our eyes and hearts. Those species were common members of our Forest Trees. We simply allowed them all to be stolen away. Our Ancestors risked their lives to save them for us to sustainably enjoy them and see them regenerate for our posterity, too. But no, with our uncontrollable greed and unwise rush to be individually wealthier than all others, irrespective of the illegality of our methods, we broke into our Forests and 'raped' their assets with unrestrained rapaciousness.

Now, Sunyani, of all places, for instance, is at the brink of falling into a Savannah zone. Bolga, for instance, is also engulfed in Sahel Conditions.

But not very long ago, even in the 70s, we could boast of having a beautiful Tropical Forest in Gambaga; Techiman, B/A, was still in the Deciduous Forest zone; Bolga was sheltered by the natural groves of Shea Butter Trees and the Baobabs. How about Today? Even the most gigantic of trees, the Onyina, has almost all vanished.

It is only with the resolved protection by the Locals in and around Damango, as in other National Parks, that the Mole Game Reserve even still has anything to show for, for the purpose of its creation. Even so, the loss of fauna in the Game Park has been significant.

The global demand for Ivory, for instance, has soared again, and the African Elephants and White Rhinos are said to be the victims of the poaching that feeds the illegal criminal Markets. How many of our Ghanaian Animals have been so victimized remains to be assessed. But I am certain they have not escaped the brutal illegal hunting for the Tusks that go into making of the Ivory carvings that furnish the plush, exquisite Living Rooms and Corridors of China's 'nouveau riche', 'parvenu' or 'bling'. Well, need we wonder? Our backyards were invaded by a flock of 'Galamsayers' from China until they, recently, were deemed too much of a nuisance disrupting our Agricultural productivity that feeds us.

So, why can't I cry out loud, wail, and mourn...Ja le, le, le!! Buei! Buei! Buei! ... And more. With courtesy to Alan Paton, let me adapt the title of his Book for my final scream...Cry, MY beloved Country!!
