Asiedu Nketiah is damn sick in the head because of his refusal to pay back what is due those who worked the voodoo for him. According to one of them called Agya Tawia from Takyiman B/A Asiedu Nketia refused to pay him after going to India for some powers for the ndc to win the 2012 elections. So what a heck would any body say Asiedu Nketia is not sick in the head to put on women's jacket to meet the German Chancellor? The ndc party has a real problem with their mental faculty.

Dr Akwasi Osei Chief Psychiarist
The Chief Psychiatrist of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Akwasi Osei, has suggested that public office holders should be made to undergo psychological screening to determine whether they are mentally fit to work in the interest of the country.

He said it was only psychologically sound public officers who could come up with sound policies and laws, and sign agreements needed to advance the country’s socio-economic development.

Speaking at the launch of the first anniversary commemoration of the Mental Health Board in Accra yesterday, Dr Osei said some of the laws passed, policies and agreements signed by public officials raised questions about the mental state of such people when they were taking such decisions.

“They have to go for psychological screening to ensure that they are of sound mind. When you look at the policies, laws and international agreements, there is something not right up there,” he said.

The Mental Health Board is the governing body of the Mental Health Authority (MHA), which was established by the Mental Health Act 846 of 2012.

Activities lined up for the week-long celebration include a public lecture, launch of the Mental Health Fund, Muslim and Christian prayers and services.

Workplace psychologists

Dr Osei, who is also the acting Chief Executive Officer of the MHA, suggested that psychologists should be employed at workplaces to offer their services to workers.

He said the psychologists could address psychological challenges facing workers and deter depressed workers from engaging in criminal acts or committing suicide.

Dr Osei added that it was the objective of the MHA to clear all the streets in the country of mental patients within the next two years.

He revealed that nine out of 10 patients who were picked from the streets regained their sanity.

Statistics

A study conducted in 2009 showed that 41 per cent of Ghanaians had psychological distress. Nineteen per cent of the distress was moderate to severe; enough to be considered mental disorder.

The 19 per cent translates into about 4.75 million of the 25 million population. Of this figure, it is estimated that 700,000 had a major disorder, including schizophrenia and other psychotic conditions.

Dr Osei indicated that the number of people with psychological distress constituted a great loss to the state.

“If we could prevent the 19 per cent of the population from developing this distress and disorder, we will save ourselves, as a nation, the loss of seven per cent of GDP”, he said.

Policy on alcohol

Dr Osei indicated that the Ministry of Health was coming out with a policy to regulate the sale, advertising and use of alcohol.

He said under the policy, advertisements on alcohol would be restricted to specific points in time, while celebrities would not be allowed to feature in those advertisements.

Nineteen per cent of the distress was moderate to severe; enough to be considered mental disorder." to my understanding, 41% of 25m is 10.25 and 19% of that as the distress should be 1.95. The 4.75 represents 19% of 25m. I'm not too sure of my english or my mathematics, or if the problem is from the reporter. I wish a clarification can be made on the said research figures as it seems a bit frightening.

I think because he's a psychiatrist he
confined the whole issue to Mental -
health.But it's actually a complete Medical Checkup including Mental health. That's what it should read.

Mahama in the first place does not need his unsolicited medical advise and secondly, it would be a political suicide for the president to seek such a mental evaluation. The opposition will jump on that and demand his resignation because he will be deemed by them as unfit for office because of mental sickness. Isn't Dr. Osei aware that a good dose of daily exercise can relieve stress?

made him fluent in French .
In 1975, he returned home to Accra to continue with his legal
career. He joined the chambers of U. V. Campbell from 1975 to
1979, and in 1979 co-founded the law firm Akufo-Addo, Prempeh
& Co, which has become one of the most prominent law firms in
Ghana. [6]
Some Ghanaian lawyers who passed through his law firm are
among the most outstanding lawyers at the Ghanaian Bar today.
They include Sophia Akuffo, Justice of the Supreme Court , Joyce
Darko, Daniel Afari Yeboah, Philip Addison, Joe Ghartey, a
former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Alex Quaynor,
Frank Davies, Kweku Paintsil, Ursula Owusu, Atta Akyea, Akufo-
Addo’s successor as MP for Abuakwa South Constituency,
Akoto Ampaw, Yoni Kulendi, Kwame Akuffo, Kwaku Asirifi, and
Godfrey Dame.
Akufo-Addo has served on the boards and committees of a
number of political, legal, and social organizations in the
country. He was the first Chairperson of DHL , Ghana Limited;

others before him, Akufo-Addo used his law practice to
champion the cause of human rights , rule of law , justice,
freedom, and democracy . He was well known for giving free
legal assistance to the poor and fought for the rights and
liberties of the Ghanaian people. Indeed, many of the important
constitutional cases of the modern era, which, inter alia ,
protected the independence of the judiciary and the right of the
citizen to demonstrate without police permit, were undertaken by
him. He is acknowledged as one of the leaders of the pro-
democracy movement in Ghana.
At the age of 33, Akufo-Addo became the General Secretary of
the broad-based People’s Movement for Freedom and Justice
(PMFJ), which was composed of political stalwarts such as
Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa, William Ofori-Atta , Komla Agbeli
Gbedemah , Adu Boahen , Sam Okudzeto , Obed Asamoah,
Godfrey Agama, K. S. P. Jantuah, Jones Ofori-Atta, Johnny
Hanson and Nii Amaah Amartefio ("Mr. No"). This group led the
"NO" campaign in the UNIGOV referendum of 1978, ultimately
bringing about the downfall of the Acheampong military
government on 5 July 1978, and the restoration of multiparty
democratic rule to the country in 1979. Akufo-Addo had to go
briefly into exile after the referendum, when his life was in
danger. But, from Europe, he could be heard constantly on the
BBC World Service , fighting against the military rulers back in
Ghana and calling for a return to democracy.
In 1991, Akufo-Addo was the chairman of the Organising
Committee of the Danquah-Busia Memorial Club, a club
dedicated to the preservation of the memory and ideals of the
two great advocates of Ghanaian democracy, J. B. Danquah and
K. A. Busia, Prime Minister of the Progress Party government of
the 2nd Republic of Ghana. Akufo-Addo travelled throughout
Ghana to establish branches of the Club all over the country in
the grassroots style for which he is known. These branches
eventually transformed into local organs of the NPP after the
ban on party politics was lifted, prior to the elections of 1993.
In 1992 he became the first national organiser of the NPP and,
later that year, campaign manager of the party's first
presidential candidate, Prof. Albert Adu Boahen, the man of
courage who broke the “culture of silence” in Ghana.
In 1992 Akufo-Addo set up and financed The Statesman
newspaper, which has become the unofficial mouthpiece of the
NPP.
In 1995 he led the famous “Kume Preko” demonstrations of the
Alliance For Change (AFC), a broad-based political pressure
group, which mobilised thousands of people onto the streets of
Ghana to protest the Value Added Tax (VAT) initiative which was
being introduced by the government of Ghana under the then
President Rawlings. Some pundits in Ghana believe that this was
instrumental in re-establishing the New Patriotic Party as more
formidable force after Prof Adu Boahen
