Ghanaians making rude comments about the appointment of a new EC do not know how the voting process works.
No matter who is appointed the EC, that individual cannot rig the elections. President Mahama can decide to appoint Mr. Owusu Afriyie (Sir John) as the new EC, and he can NEVER rig the 2016 elections in favour of the NPP. With the transparency enshrined in the voting process as we witnessed in the 2012 elections, rigging of elections has become a thing of the past! In fact the Electoral Commissioner has only become a figure head. Votes are counted at the polling stations with a full glare of the public watching the counting.
The Polling station results are collated at the collation centres in a full glare of all party members present, The results are announced by the returning officer for the MPs, Collation results are checked at the EC strong room and signed by all party representatives and forwarded to the Electoral Commissioner being the authorised person to announce the results of the Presidential Election. With these checks and balances in system, it does not matter who becomes the EC. As the Fantis nicely put it the EC has thus been reduced to 'SIMPA PREKO'

It has been sometime that this office has been suspecting Dr. Amoako Baah of being not qualified even to vote, by reason of being more than 18 years or above, but not of sound mind!

We have been hesitant with coming forward with our findings because we considered his NPP background as a key factor that must have warped his thinking!

If indeed, it is true that this man really expressed any interest in the post of the EC, then we have a stark raving lunatic on our hands!

If all we need is an NPP fool to be an electoral Commissioner, why don't we suggest Dr. "Pink Sheet" Bawumia? (Hereinafter referred to as Dr. P.S. Bawumia)

At least, Dr. P.S. Bawumiah is a statistician who displayed the ability to recognize the colour of the Statement of Poll and Declaration of Results (SPDR) instead of their contents!

Dr. P. S. Bawumiah can also be excused for not knowing much of what went on at the various polling stations. And he was absolutely honest about it: "You and I were not there"!

That's my man! That's a man of integrity and of sound mind! As for this Amoako man, how can he supervise elections when he himself is not of a sound mind?

The beauty of our democracy is that it keeps everyone busy! Let him keep dreaming! It will keep him away from mischief!

I think we should appoint a foreigner to head the EC. It seems to me that there is no Ghanaian who would be acceptable to both of the main political parties. Any decisions made by a Ghanaian appointee is likely to be disputed ...

Any decisions made by a Ghanaian appointee is likely to be disputed by one political party or the other. Wuntumi and Akufo Addo both of 'all die be die' fame will dispute any result which does not go in their favour. All we want is PEACE IN OUR LAND.

I would prefer Chairman Wontumi to Amoako Baah. Chairman Wontumi cannot hide his bias, Amoako-Baah pretends not to be biased. Either of them will make sure NPP never lose elections in Ghana. This will be bad for GHANA.

By the way. Did he really state that he'll do "a lot better than the status quo"? I have always had my suspicion as to the real status of this man. Was he saying incumbent or the status quo?

I am assigning the Prof. to work out the percentage of the first (50) fifty to comment on this topic that will be in his favour. AMOAKO BAAH should be content with the rest of the period left for him as chair of Political science at KNUST and leave nationally elected officials to carry out their work in peace.
