She heads the Council because it's Liberia's turn to do so. This is not an Executive position at the WAEC

Reforming Ghana's education system which undoubtedly is a must, should begin with withdrawing from the substandard WAEC for at least 5 or 10 years. We need a Ghana-centered curriculum that would stand shoulder to shoulder with countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and India. How can a country like ours link our educational development with countries like Gambia, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone?
It is embarrassing to say the least even to suggest that our country has the same curriculum as these other West African countries. All these countries (Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, the Gambia) in the past use to recruit teachers from Ghana even though we shared the same curricula with them. What has happened over the years is that with regional wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone, educational standards have fallen in these countries and so are standards.
Students are at their best in tertiary educational level - this is the level where we discover our scientist, mathematicians, physicists, etc., but this is the same level where we are linked with WAEC for evaluation and testing. What good can come from WAEC after 62 years milestone?
