“In the last six years, the NDC has borrowed US$27 billion. Before that, we, the NPP, borrowed a total of US$5.5 billion in eight years. Compare that to the NDC borrowing $27 billion in six years and ask yourself what they have done with all that money,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said.

He said, though a lot more money has been spent, it is a paradox of economic management that this level of excessive spending has only led to greater hardships being visited on the people.

“NDC inherited a public debt stock of GHS9.5 billion in 2009,” the former Deputy Governor of the central bank said. “Today, Ghana’s debt has gone up to GHS65.7 billion. So when I say the stakes are high I am talking about the destiny of our country, Ghana, the future of the youth.”

“The NDC has been taxing everything, including condoms and cutlasses. In terms of resources, this NDC government has had more resources than any other government. We did not have oil. Yet, Ghanaians know what we did with the limited resources we had. We spent money responsibly to create the NHIS, introduce Capitation Grant, expand access to education, we spent wisely on infrastructure and built more roads than any other government,” he said.

This loan is going to be released in three tranches for the next three years with the first one for this year being a mere $114 million. Even some of this money will not be released into the economy as the government has said it will use part of this loan to settle part of its indebtedness to Bank of Ghana.

One billion borrowed through the sale of government bonds last year did not see any improvement in the economy and you expect $114 million this year to change the lives of Ghanaians? These Ndc fool soldiers are really out to lunch.

Ghana in the 90s under the Rawlings's long term served finance minister, the so called IMF darling boy, Kwesi Botchey, had millions of bailouts from same exploitative institution with hundreds promised projects, now just show me a single beneficial structure we gained as legacy from all those bailouts? If anything, the IMF bailouts only criminally put monies in foreign accounts of the former campus poor rats who shamelessly today walk as the country's most rich free on our streets and sleeping in huge mansions comfortably with their families.

IMF BAILOUT, yes it is a positive move, the amount to disbursed is colossal and possibly the highest in history.
The question is what will be the expected outcomes, for Ghanaians who also need to be part of independent monitor in case there corruption along the way, this, which had been the main cause of Ghana's woes in preventing for example, government officials living within their pay/salaries.
State officials, head of institutions, I.e. MDAs paying fair market rent for government housing, justifying the use of governm er nt vehicles and the many other linkeages of the "ghost names", paying domestic workers on public accounts which is a major leak in our culture.
The phenomenom of gifts and giving in hard cash when officials go on visits.
These are monies not budgetted for but leaks and it is not private money of the state official. All these attitudes need to be curtailed if we are to benefit from the $0.9billion loan.
The money itself need to be delivered timely to make any impact. Not at this time when we are under the pressure of preparing for elections in about 8 months.
The other serious non-commitant part of this report is not providing the expected growth component leaving it to the rot of too much discretion and discretionary formulations and broadly stated objectives which are difficult to test or pinpoint.
I doubt the impact for just a little over$1.4million is to be received anyway. Which is even less than govt's new 4S wage bill/salary bill in a period.
Finally, for the growth component missing in the stated objectives and obvious missing outcomes, it sounds more like a patch work of filling the "potholes" left a cluster bomb explosion.

All said is what will give us value for the borrowed money and the noteably high interests we shall be paying on the said loan.
